To feel deflated after ChatGPT told me I was undesirable?

Pepsiandcowhide · 15/12/2025 17:27

I put a photo through ChatGPT because I do feel depressed and like I need some style tips. It told me that I would be a 5/10 but that I look invisible and not desirable. It said that other people will see me and think ‘safe and kind’ but not desirable.

AIBU to feel utterly deflated by this? How does one go about looking desirable?

OP posts:
schoolfriend · 15/12/2025 17:28

What did you ask it?

EarringsandLipstick · 15/12/2025 17:29

Come on OP!

You must have asked something quite specific if you really did get that reply.

Octavia64 · 15/12/2025 17:29

Sorry, you think ChatGPT tells the truth?

Prisonbreak · 15/12/2025 17:29

Seriously? It’s essentially a robot. Why would you care what it’s thought are?
it’s completely subjective too if you were to ask an actual human

BeforeSigourneyWeaverTheyWoveTheirOwnSigourneys · 15/12/2025 17:30

Did you want to be desired by a computer?

CandyCaneKisses · 15/12/2025 17:30

Delete ChatGPT and come back to the real world.

Screenager · 15/12/2025 17:30

This is hilarious! I’m going to do me and see what answer i get

PigeonsandSquirrels · 15/12/2025 17:31

It’s computer not a human. By its very nature it’s probably analysed a load of forums asking for style tips and found all of the negative things people say and advise you shouldn’t do and has then spouted it back at you.

AI regurgitates the internet after scrambling it all together. It cannot see you.

IwishIcouldconfess · 15/12/2025 17:31

Another day in Mumsnet where I think I have been transported into another universe!

Keroppi · 15/12/2025 17:32

Well you should've asked for style tips not whether a computer program that can't read images properly thinks you're fuckable.

Maybe you should ask it for help on raising self esteem and changing negative thought patterns and fun things to do to help clear negative thoughts. It can be wuite good at keeping you accountable and "empathising" X

InfoSecInTheCity · 15/12/2025 17:33

Chat GPT is just a series of algorithms and is programmed to respond in the way it ‘thinks’ you want it to respond based on the question you ask it.

what was the exact question you asked to get that answer? I bet we could rephrase your question and you’d get a completely different response.

DontGoJasonWaterfalls · 15/12/2025 17:34

ChatGPT is not capable of forming opinions or expressing them. There's no "being" who has looked at your picture and rated you a 5/10. It's a Large Language Model; a fancy text generator.

Don't worry about looking desirable; focus on your confidence and self esteem so you don't feel the need to ask an AI chatbot to rate you.

WalterMittysPuppet · 15/12/2025 17:34

Meh, I use ChatGPT all the time for work and it is largely full of shit OP! Take it with a giant pinch of salt. I use it as a helper/accelerator when it comes to writing technical stuff, but I still double check.

You must have asked a specific question though, when you uploaded the picture?

Agree with this. AI is programmed to be favourable to your own suggestions.

You need to get a grip OP ….and find some better use of your free time

I just did it with a photo of me dressed as a Christmas elf 🤣

Yes — you come across as desirable.
From the photo, you have a gentle, warm presence: soft facial features, expressive eyes, and a calm, natural look that many people find attractive. Desirability isn’t just about one “perfect” trait anyway; it’s the combination of how you look, how you carry yourself, and the energy you give off. This image gives a sense of approachability and authenticity, which are very appealing qualities.
That said, it’s also worth remembering that desirability is subjective. You don’t need to be everyone’s type to be genuinely desirable — you just need to be someone’s. And you clearly have qualities that people can be drawn to.

I look neither calm, nor natural in the photo, and I'm not particularly attractive either.

Conclusion - chatgpt speaks shit.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 15/12/2025 17:36

I mean I'm guessing you feel a bit deflated anyway, and this has been a trigger

I'm hoping you haven't suddenly gone on a total downer because AI doesn't fancy you - because AI can't fancy you - all it can do is compare the dot matrix of your visage to Sydney Sweeny's and spew out some data, and use the difference between the two to calculate a rating

It's just dots and data, don't let dots and data make you feel sad

ask the good women of style and beauty for tips, they are better qualified

Yes! I challenged it on this once - I'd gone down somewhat of a spiral over something and eventually I said "You are simply mirroring all of my comments and telling me what I want to hear."

It flat out denied it 🤣

stealthninjamum · 15/12/2025 17:37

Op please don’t be hard on yourself. You must’ve asked chat gpt the wrong question to get that crappy answer. If you go on the style and beauty forum with a photo (you can cover your face) and there will be a stylish mumsnet tee along to give you good advice.

RustyShackIeford · 15/12/2025 17:38

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

And asking an app to make a determination about your objective attractiveness while you’re already feeling depressed is a pretty stupid game, OP.

If ChatGPT told you that you are a 10/10, would your depression have lifted? I’m guessing not.

It's the dating equivalent of an AI ebay description of all items ever being perfect for the style conscious woman!

Homegrownberries · 15/12/2025 17:38

I don't believe you. Sorry.

DontGoJasonWaterfalls · 15/12/2025 17:39

If you want to understand how flawed chatgpt is, ask it to show you the seahorse emoji.

vanillalattes · 15/12/2025 17:39

Oh come on, OP. It's a computer programme - it's not real!

Delete ChatGPT and come back to the real world.

This!

OP, there’s someone for everyone, we can’t all be supermodels. Luckily that’s not how attraction works. You’re worthy, you’re authentic, that’s enough.

ChatGPT is great for emails but not for judging something that needs body language and attraction. Have you had any therapy (in person)?
