My husband wears the same jumper and jeans for 3 days in row ..

He sees nothing wrong with it at all and doesn’t understand my reasoning. I completely disagree. Obviously if his clothes are still clean then they can be worn again but I don’t think you can wear them again on several consecutive days. I’m embarrassed if we see people we know for two days in a row and he’s in the same outfit. I think it gives weird vibes like he can only afford one outfit. Just seems a bit studenty, and dirty. Am I being unreasonable??

If I’m at home I wear the same jeans and jumper several days on the trot (but change my underwear everyday). If I’m at work or going out, I’d not wear the same clothes two days running.

But I don’t really see anything wrong with what your husband is doing (unless the clothes smell).

I’m on my 3rd day of same jeans and jumper. Ditto bra and socks.

Socks!!??

gamerchick · 13/12/2025 21:11

People won't notice his clothes as much as you think OP.

They'll notice if he's a bit pongy though, which id assume you would tell him if he was

ItsDarkNow · 13/12/2025 21:11

@MasterBeth
Yep.

Glendaruel · 13/12/2025 21:14

If its wool, it has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties to it and consequently needs minimal washing, its an amazing material. Lasts a long time, but if you bury it, its biodegradable.

Sunshineismyfavourite · 13/12/2025 21:18

YABU. The vast majority of people will not notice. I have been sat next to my DH all eve, he's just gone into another room and I can honestly say I couldn't tell you what colour top he is wearing! I also never notice if someone wears glasses ... they wear glasses - really? Honestly you are spending too much time worrying about this. I mean if they were smelly and filthy then fine he should change but if it's for the sake of appearances for your friends and neighbours (which is very weird) then YABVU.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 13/12/2025 21:22

Okay if he is wearing underwear. My DH has his uniform washed once midweek, once on the weekend, he works 6 days.
He changes the minute he is in, while showering daily.
Is he washing himself daily?

You’re being told you’re wrong a lot on this thread OP but I think it’s disgusting. People on mn don’t realise bacteria are microscopic. You’ve hit the “I only shower twice a week” brigade.

When was the last century anyone got even mildly unwell from bacteria on their clothes? I’ll wait.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing clothes multiple times. It’s better for the clothes and better for the environment.

bridgetreilly · 13/12/2025 21:23

MasterBeth · 13/12/2025 21:08

Socks!!??

Wool socks don’t smell! And they are so cosy and comfortable.

Growlybear83 · 13/12/2025 21:29

If you think it’s ok to wear clothes more than once, why does it matter if they’re worn on consecutive days? I’m genuinely baffled.

greengreyblue · 13/12/2025 18:51

Why would he stink? Presuming he wears deodorant and showers daily?

Nah, if he doesn't bother to change his shirt, I bet he doesn't shower daily.

IceIceSlippyIce · 13/12/2025 21:45

Showered, clean pants, socks and teeshirt? No problem.

If he smells, or is rewearing stuff closer to his skin, maybe encourage a review of hygiene.

I wear the same trousers four days in a row to work. Not a big deal

That’s gross 🤢

Who has said anything about not changing his shirt? OP said jumper.

Anyahyacinth · 13/12/2025 21:52

W0tnow · 13/12/2025 18:39

I wear jeans and jumpers multiple times before washing. I’ll rotate them though.

What I don’t get, is people not putting clean (but worn) clothes away. Because they will somehow contaminate the freshly clean stuff. (Looking at you, husband). Drives me nuts.

I’m fussy about my jumpers, they are wool or cashmere. They are carefully washed only 2 or 3 times a season.

Edited

I hang clean but worn clothes away from clean clothes in wardrobes as worn clothes attract moths (they like the scent of our bodies etc..)

Skippydoodle · 13/12/2025 22:11

2old4thispoo · 13/12/2025 18:26

YANBU

After 3 days he must stink especially the t- shirt!

All depends on the person. I have to change everything every day, I’m a generally sweaty person, unfortunately 😁. My DH could get a week out of a pair of socks without so much as a whiff of a feet smell, he is annoyingly wholesome!

Discombobble · 13/12/2025 22:18

Yes, you are being ridiculous

Chiefangel · 13/12/2025 22:30

Does he smell bad then? Are you embarrassed by him?

good on him for environmental purposes.

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 13/12/2025 23:27

Christ, you'd hate me, I wear the same jeans for a week or two at a time, basically until I get some unidentified mark on them.

Ariela · 14/12/2025 00:01

DH has about 5 x exactly the same pair of trousers, 2 of at least 3 or 4 favourite
shirts
And about 3 similar jumpers in similar colour

Nobody has ever commented

littleamanda · 13/12/2025 21:46

That’s gross 🤢

It isn't gross at all - wtf is wrong with you?

I'm not in the UK and we are continually being advised via TV to wash our clothes less.

I would smell really bad if I did this.

clamshell24 · 14/12/2025 04:47

YABU. Both can be worn til visibly stained unless sweat's an issue. You must be doing endless laundry!

Worralorra · 14/12/2025 05:14

Underwear is what needs changing daily. Not jeans or a jumper. Get. A. Grip. OP,
