My husband wears the same jumper and jeans for 3 days in row ..

He sees nothing wrong with it at all and doesn’t understand my reasoning. I completely disagree. Obviously if his clothes are still clean then they can be worn again but I don’t think you can wear them again on several consecutive days. I’m embarrassed if we see people we know for two days in a row and he’s in the same outfit. I think it gives weird vibes like he can only afford one outfit. Just seems a bit studenty, and dirty. Am I being unreasonable??

Isn’t that a song?!

AltitudeCheck · 13/12/2025 18:29

Unless it's a novelty jumper / neon colour / weird jumper no one will notice or remember what he wore yesterday! I can't even remember what I wore, let alone someone else!

Tryingtokeepgoing · 13/12/2025 18:30

Many people, mainly men is has to be said, including the late Steve Jobs wear exactly the same type of clothes every day, In Job’s case his uniform consisted of a black turtleneck, blue jeans, and New Balance trainers. Many other successful people take a similar approach, so YABU IMO

Greggsit · 13/12/2025 18:31

As long as he's changing his underwear, so what?

I agree with you, but you'll get a lot of people telling you it's fine.

Because you think they need a wash by then, or is it because people may see you wearing the same outfit on 3 consecutive days?

Because they are right.

As my kids would say to me when I stupidly stress about outfits etc - "Calm down, literally no one cares"

YANBU

After 3 days he must stink especially the t- shirt!

Since the OP only mentioned jumper and jeans and only 3 days I think he’s vanishingly unlikely to stink, unless that’s all he was wearing :)

NutButterOnToast · 13/12/2025 18:33

Unless it's really distinctive like a Dennis the Menace jumper, people won't notice

DappledThings · 13/12/2025 18:34

Ridiculous. I do this. I don't like having multiple items out of the wardrobe and jeans or a jumper worn once or twice won't be dirty enough to wash.

My standard routine is same jeans and jumper for about three days. Clean socks, pants and tshirt every day. I doubt anyone else notices what I'm wearing and why would I care if they do.

HeadyLamarr · 13/12/2025 18:35

I wear jeans until they are dirty. If they aren't dirty, why wash them? He presumably changes his pants daily.

Jumpers are fine for several days, especially with a t shirt or shirt underneath.

Wbeezer · 13/12/2025 18:35

Ha, my DH buys at least two of the same jeans and jumpers if he finds ones he likes and rotates them, couldnt give a toss if people think he doesn’t change his clothes!

Tiedyeegg · 13/12/2025 18:36

ItsDarkNow · 13/12/2025 18:25

I’m on my 3rd day of same jeans and jumper. Ditto bra and socks.

I agree with the rest but wearing the same socks without washing them is Grim

Hankunamatata · 13/12/2025 18:37

Does he change tshirt and underwear?

I

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 13/12/2025 18:37

Both these items can easily be worn 3 times without washing them... and unless he has general hygiene issues, so one is likely to think he is living on the streets, just not v interested in clothes.

But if you think it's dull, would he respond to you buying him more gear and asking him to rotate?

InterestedDad37 · 13/12/2025 18:37

Slob 😀 I probably wear about 3 different sets of clothes each day, depending on what I'm up to.
They get reused before being washed, I'm not an idiot, but....

NoTouch · 13/12/2025 18:38

Jeans can usually be worn several times before needing a wash.

If he’s wearing a T-shirt under a jumper, the jumper will also stay relatively clean.

As long as the clothes look and smell clean, washing them unnecessarily uses extra resources and can shorten their lifespan.

Which leaves the only issue is you don't like other people seeing him wearing the same clothes two days in a row. That is your personal preference rather than a hygiene concern, and you can't/shouldn’t impose that on him.

firstofallimadelight · 13/12/2025 18:38

Jeans are fine for several days. A jumper if it’s over a t shirt or fairly loose is definitely fine especially in winter

EyeLevelStick · 13/12/2025 18:39

Chatterboxy · 13/12/2025 18:24

You are being unreasonable.

This is just some AI mash-up. Why are people so credulous these days?

Jumpers, especially ones made with natural fibres, do not need to be washed this often at all.

W0tnow · 13/12/2025 18:39

I wear jeans and jumpers multiple times before washing. I’ll rotate them though.

What I don’t get, is people not putting clean (but worn) clothes away. Because they will somehow contaminate the freshly clean stuff. (Looking at you, husband). Drives me nuts.

I’m fussy about my jumpers, they are wool or cashmere. They are carefully washed only 2 or 3 times a season.

AhBiscuits · 13/12/2025 18:39

Your problem is that you care what other people think. I couldn't care less.

Sympathy. My DP is just the same. But he's now 75 years old (been together for 15 years) so there's no way I can change him. Just today I said to him that he really needed to change the teeshirt he's worn for a few days 🙄 and he replied 'yes I know'.

TheAlcott · 13/12/2025 18:40

I bet OP is someone who washes towels after every use...

Edited

I do tend to hang them on the door for a bit..
