My husband wears the same jumper and jeans for 3 days in row ..

He sees nothing wrong with it at all and doesn’t understand my reasoning. I completely disagree. Obviously if his clothes are still clean then they can be worn again but I don’t think you can wear them again on several consecutive days. I’m embarrassed if we see people we know for two days in a row and he’s in the same outfit. I think it gives weird vibes like he can only afford one outfit. Just seems a bit studenty, and dirty. Am I being unreasonable??

You'd hate me then, as I wear the same jeans for up to a week! Give em the sniff test, if they look and smell clean, I wear them. I've read somewhere that its not good to wash jeans too much

They may pass your snif test but you might just be used to it.

My ex had a habbit of wearing his clothes way too many times. I never noticed him smelling in general. 1 time he had been here in certain clothes, then i didnt see him for a day. Then he come the next wearing the same clothes as 2 days prior. He left his clothes here after that and changed into new clothes before. I was putting s wash on and give his clothes the snif test to see if they needed to be washed and felt sick at the smell. It was no longer than 3 days he had been wearing them.

Jeans fare very well with washing. I had the same 2 favourite pairs of jeans for years and years so they both would be washed once a week at least. I wear jeans twice and then they are washed, they feel grubby after that. Those 2 pairs still look like new now but I'm 1 size up so can't wear them no more due to that, not because they have been washed too much.

Jumpers are twice in winter. Once in summer. Same with pjs. Anything which needs hand washing I save for best, as I just can't stand the feel of dirty clothes which I always notice past 2 days

Actual men, who are masculine, don’t parade around in “outfits” that they buy/change/rotate for their friends to admire.

It isn't gross at all - wtf is wrong with you?

I'm not in the UK and we are continually being advised via TV to wash our clothes less.

Do not disobey the TV.

I agree with you, but you'll get a lot of people telling you it's fine.

Yep - that's because it is fine.

Tablesandchairs23 · 14/12/2025 05:49

I think that's gross. They might not look dirty. He'll have sweated in them and air pollution dirties clothes. Hope he showers more often.

But, but there’s air in the wardrobe!

Not dirty though is it. Like going outside that is dirty and gets into your clothes.

BeanQuisine · 14/12/2025 06:23

You seem to agree that you are being unreasonable - and I quote:

Obviously if his clothes are still clean then they can be worn again

You justify your position by pointing out your social anxieties:

I’m embarrassed if we see people we know for two days in a row and he’s in the same outfit. I think it gives weird vibes like he can only afford one outfit.

...and yes, those anxieties are unreasonable.

Natsku · 14/12/2025 06:56

I wear the same jeans and hoodie all week, unless they get dirty. I only wear for a few hours a day after work though so they're not exactly getting sweated on, and t-shirt, pants and socks are changed daily (bra every 2 or 3 days)

What’s wrong with you ? Same trouser 4 days in a row? 🤢. I’m glad I don’t work with you !!

DoAWheelie · 14/12/2025 07:34

I have sensory issues so when I found a top that had the perfect fabric and cut so that I never actively felt it while wearing it, I bought 30 duplicates.

It's all I ever wear so it looks like I never change (other than the fact that it's always clean and I never smell). No one has never commented or treated me any differently. People are just not that aware of what other people are dressed in as long as it's appropriate.

Are you an exceptionally sweaty or messy person or do you wear tight clothes?

Your extreme views are unusual. Most people who shower daily and wear clean underwear and T-shirts every day absolutely do not need to wash jeans/trousers and jumpers after only one or two wears.

Your overly fastidiousness is not healthy.

Owly11 · 14/12/2025 07:46

What? Jumpers barely ever need washing and neither do jeans. You are washing clothes way too much if you think you can't wear jeans more than twice. This has got to be a fake post surely?

Owly11 · 14/12/2025 07:50

Chatterboxy · 13/12/2025 18:24

You are being unreasonable.

Wool jumpers only need washing once or twice a season.

I would smell really bad if I did this.

With respect, I think that is a you problem.

No, i’m not especially sweaty. I believe hygiene is really important- especially at work. Have you only got one pair of trousers? Is this an affordability issue?

I believe not paying attention to basic hygiene is unhealthy and slob-like. Are you a slob in other areas of your life too?

Twattergy · 14/12/2025 08:28

The people talking about bacteria on clothing like it's a health hazard Hmm
If your body and base layers are clean then it's normal/fine in fact good (for the environment) to wear other items mutliple times before cleaning, especially jeans and jumpers.

Not wearing freshly washed jeans and jumpers daily is not unhealthy or slob-like.

Do you expect a man's suit, many of which are dry clean only, to be cleaned every day? That would be unaffordable.

Playdy · 14/12/2025 08:37

If someone else is noticing (and caring) what your husband is wearing that’s kinda their problem.

Yes - especially if it was worn on the train/tube in the city. The answer is to have multiple items of clothing so they can be rotated. I can’t think of any reason to wear the same item of clothing day in day out unless you’re very poor or have a mental health condition.

Mischance · 14/12/2025 08:47

This is ludicrous. I wear my jeans for weeks and wash them when they get dirty; jumpers ditto as I always have something on under them.
As to whether anyone might care a jot whether I've worn the same thing twice then that is their problem not mine.
Stop wrecking the planet with all that washing and find something more important to think about!

And do you catalogue the items worn by your colleagues so you know they are wearing something new every day?

It's completely unnecessary to change outer layers every day unless you've actually spilt something down them

How on earth would anyone notice whether a person was wearing the same pair of jeans 3 days in a row? They're JEANS, not Nepalese psychedelic bellbottoms - they tend to look very similar. Confused

Anyway, OP didn't come back after her first post so this is just another shout into the void.
