My husband wears the same jumper and jeans for 3 days in row ..

He sees nothing wrong with it at all and doesn’t understand my reasoning. I completely disagree. Obviously if his clothes are still clean then they can be worn again but I don’t think you can wear them again on several consecutive days. I’m embarrassed if we see people we know for two days in a row and he’s in the same outfit. I think it gives weird vibes like he can only afford one outfit. Just seems a bit studenty, and dirty. Am I being unreasonable??

As they say in the Army: “I think I’ll wear my… khaki shirt today.”

candycanetime · 14/12/2025 18:26

To be fair though I only work 6 hours a day, so actually my uniform is on my body for 18 hours before being washed, that's the equivalent of some people's clothing in just one day I guess. I sit at a desk all day and shower before putting it on each morning.

EmotionallyWeird · 14/12/2025 18:28

I think YABU. As long as he wears clean pants and socks each day and a clean t-shirt every 2 days, the jumper and jeans are not up against anything particularly sweaty/smelly and should be fine. I think if I noticed that someone I knew was wearing the same jumper and jeans a lot, I'd be slightly envious that they had found something they loved that much.

Lovely13 · 14/12/2025 19:17

If you have a non-manual job and change your underwear, can’t see a problem. Over-washing clothes is not good for them, your fuel bills or environment.

Jk987 · 14/12/2025 19:18

I’d change the top for a different look and the top would get sweaty after 3 days.

I wouldn't work for my DP but only because he doesn't wear underwear 😂

Why on earth not?
Does he wear a kilt? 😁

IThinkHesTalkingToYou · 14/12/2025 19:45

YABU. Presumably your husband showers between wears? Also, as others have said, you don’t need to be washing your clothes after light use and contributing to climate change by wasting energy. Think you need to rethink your own POV.

Marylou2 · 14/12/2025 20:33

I can't remember with any accuracy what my own husband has worn for the last 3 days so I really doubt anyone is monitoring and judging your husband's outfits. If he's clean and tidy all is fine.

TreacleMoon · 14/12/2025 21:07

Well, he's doing alright if he's only wearing his jeans for 3 days..
"In 2014, Levi's CEO Chip Bergh stated he hadn't washed his favorite pair of 501s in a decade, shocking many and igniting the debate on jean washing"

SemiRetiredLoveGoddeess · 14/12/2025 21:31

Sound OK to me
But l would draw the line at Man Undies and Socks

Laurmolonlabe · 14/12/2025 22:12

People are really not focussed on what you or your husband are wearing- if the clothes are clean and in good condition I see no problem. You obviously worry a bit too much about what other people think, maybe relax a little.

Booboobagins · 14/12/2025 23:16

Now if you said he does that with socks and underwear or doesn't shower/wash enough, fine I'd be 100% with you. But honestly, get a grip. Clothes that aren't dirty and don't smell are fine to re-wear! You can get antiback sprays to prolong between washes if you're really that worried...

No kilt haha. He's just more comfortable without. I don't think it's that uncommon, actually.

But that would mean he would have to wear clean jeans or trousers every day. That is a lot of washing.

I think most families do a daily wash though don’t they? He’s always been commando so I’ve never known any difference tbh

Globules · 15/12/2025 08:13

I bet the whole world comes crashing down every time he does that 😳🤦🏻‍♀️

You really think people you may bump into in the street will remember what your DH is wearing?

I make notes. Doesn’t everyone?

Notes, in these days of phone cameras and individually named albums? Not likely!

Trousers take up a lot more space in a washing machine than underpants though. No, we don't use the washing machine every day because we wear outer clothes like jeans more than once.

Chinsupmeloves · 15/12/2025 17:37

Of course you can wear trousers several days in a row, assuming clean underwear every day. You usually wear a t shirt under a jumper so same applies. I wear the same work trousers 3 days in a row sometimes but change tops daily because I like to wear something clean after a shower but wouldn't have a problem if someone didn't.

ginasevern · 15/12/2025 18:20

I once worked with a couple of women (office work) who washed every single item they and their family wore every day. I mean, everything. Jumpers, trousers, blouses, even jackets. I was staggered. If you shower or wash properly every day, change your underwear and aren't doing a dirty job this is completely unnecessary. It ruins your clothes and the environment.

WestwardHo1 · 15/12/2025 18:21

You are being completely and utterly unreasonable.
