What age did you have your kids and would you say it was before, bang on or over average age wise?

27 and 30…slightly before average I think

Sesma · 12/12/2025 14:06

34, a bit later than average in the early 90s, I chose to just have one

ByLemonFish · 12/12/2025 14:06

17 and 29

AgentPidge · 12/12/2025 14:07

I was 34 (twins). It was in the '90s and at the time I was considered a 'geriatric mother'. I think it was about the right time, as DH wouldn't have been ready earlier (he was 32).

Whereismyfleeceblanket · 12/12/2025 14:07

I've had dc in my teen's, 20's, 30's and last dc at 43.... Pro's and cons to all ages.

Ime.

Girasoli · 12/12/2025 14:07

28 and 32, a little earlier than average. Still considering one more - would be 38 then.

Iloveeverycat · 12/12/2025 14:08

30,33 35, 4 kids perfect.

Girasoli · 12/12/2025 14:09

I've got a friend whose got a teen, a primary aged child, and a toddler - am v. Impressed that she's not permanently exhausted tbh.

balkanscot · 12/12/2025 14:09

First and last: at 40 and wasn’t considered a geriatric mother (I think 41 was the cut off point). My mum had me when she was 36. She was considered well over the hill/geriatric. That was in 1972.

DramaAlpaca · 12/12/2025 14:10

I was 29, 30 and 33. I think it was about average for the time, the mid-90s, and the perfect timing for me.

AhBiscuits · 12/12/2025 14:10

35 and 37.
On the older side but it was the right time for me.

i think it was the right time for me in life. Abstractly I think the best time to have kids would be first one at 26-27 if you have met your partner. I think later is worse and more tiring etc

earlgreyismyjam · 12/12/2025 14:15

32 and 34 less than 10 years ago, was a good age. Crazily felt slightly on the young side but that's living in London for you. Lot of my friends have waited and are now having kids in their late 30s / early 40s and definitely benefiting from good mat leave packages as they're lot further along in their careers now and earning more ££

Tillow4ever · 12/12/2025 14:16

25, 28 and 32. I think I was younger than average based on all the other mums at the school!

Snoopsyz · 12/12/2025 14:17

16 and 24.

Im 25 now and have to say I still feel like a teen mum with my second, I think it’s because I’m a midget

Bearbookagainandagain · 12/12/2025 14:19

3 between 35-39. I would consider this late (they all would have been considered "geriatric" in my home country), but in the UK I think it's close to average.

Tiedbutchorestodo · 12/12/2025 14:21

30 and 36, IMO pretty average for first and a bit later than wanted for second. In an ideal world I’d have been settled and ready for children at maybe 27 and 30. Ideally I’d have liked to have been done with pregnancy by 30.

Youngest is year 5 now and I feel fine but I think ahead and am a bit sad I might be an old grandmother and might not have enough energy if she has children at a similar age.

mindutopia · 12/12/2025 14:22

32 and 37. I’d say it was pretty average, maybe a little on the younger end for the first.

19 - 2014
26 - 2020
29 - 2024

Earlier than average for my first and slightly earlier with my second. Pretty average for my third.

MsGrumpytrousers · 12/12/2025 14:24

Forty-one. It was great and worked well for me – plain sailing all through: I was so lucky. I didn't count as really old ("geriatric promagravida", is that it?). Friend had her first at 48 and she did.

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 12/12/2025 14:32

26 for my first. Think that’s about average. Then 28 and 33 for my next kids.

TomatoSandwiches · 12/12/2025 14:33

DS1 - 22
DD1 - 27
DS2 - 31

Beeloux · 12/12/2025 14:35

Just turned 24 with first, second at 26.

Chipmusk · 12/12/2025 14:37

37, on the old side, but fairly normal in my social circle. Very few had children before 35.
