What age did you have your kids and would you say it was before, bang on or over average age wise?

Average or above average surely? I was 16 and 24 with mine felt average the second time around

Really depends where you live. U.K. average for a first baby is 29, but in London it’s 31. I had my first at 31 in London and where I live I was the youngest in all the baby classes. The next youngest in my NCT group was 38. I’m 38 now with an 7yo and 5yo and the only one of DC’s friends parents still in their 30s.

Interesting I would have thought London had more young mums than the other way around. I’m currently 25 with a 9 year old and one year old. Younger than my eldests friends but most of them are still in their 30s or 20s

32, 34 and 35 (almost 36)

38, definitely older but I looked much younger so I ‘fit’ right in.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 31/01/2026 21:11

36, average for my London professional social circle

I’m sure it varies a lot and there will be extremes, but it is so expensive to live in London and in my (professional) circles early 30s are the time to really push in your career, so most people wait until later. I didn’t do that and I’m very glad, but I’m considering a third baby (I’d be 39) and wouldn’t be out of place at all, whereas 39 year olds are grandparents in my home town!

24 and 27. I'm now mid 40s with 2 adult children and enjoying a second wind!
