What age did you have your kids and would you say it was before, bang on or over average age wise?

28, 33, 35

Isadora2007 · 12/12/2025 21:32

Teen twenties and thirties.

younger than average for first two. Probably average for third and older than average for fourth.

Mistaken for grandchild number 3s mum the other day- and at 47 I guess I could be… at a push.

Cel77 · 12/12/2025 21:53

37 and 41. Definitely over average age but not completely unheard of.

francii · 12/12/2025 21:57

19,20,25 and 35! First three were probably well before average age. 35 was probably pretty average although I felt ancient in comparison to my others!

EsmeSusanOgg · 12/12/2025 22:03

34 and 38 (just, day before my birthday). Slightly older than average, but not out of the norm.

AliTheMinx · 12/12/2025 22:03

I've got one DC and I had him.when I was 33. I only ever wanted one child. He's perfect.

EllaPaella · 12/12/2025 22:04

23, 30, 35

mondaytosunday · 12/12/2025 22:04

41 and 43. I know that’s older than average as I can google. But plenty of mums at my kids’ school similar age to me.

augustusglupe · 12/12/2025 22:06

24

Femalefootyfan · 12/12/2025 22:06

First a month before my 24th birthday
Second at 27
Third at 30

This was between 1988 and 1994, not sure about average age for each

TrixieFatell · 12/12/2025 22:06

Late 20s, early 30s, late 30s

StupidHappyClocks · 12/12/2025 22:11

27 & 30. Very average 20 years ago. I wasn’t a ‘young’ or ‘older’ mum.

The average in some areas/circles does seem much older now. When my kids were in infant school there were only a few mums in their 40s and none in their 50s.

One of my friends is 50 with a 7 yr old and only a few of the school mums in her son’s class had children before 35.

Friendlyfart · 12/12/2025 22:17

30 & 32

youalright · 12/12/2025 22:20

15,18, 31, 33. First one young 2nd slightly young 3rd and 4th i felt old. 18 was the easiest age. 15 I still had school no friends with kids missed going out. 18 other friends had babies had my own home had loads of energy. 31 and 33 was harder just felt exhausted all the time I didn't want kids past 30 but its just how it worked out.

ladygindiva · 12/12/2025 22:23

23 and 42. Very young and very old 🤣

Dramatic · 12/12/2025 22:26

17, 20, 22, 30. Earlier than average for the first three, average for the fourth.

Rictasmorticia · 12/12/2025 22:30

22, 24 32

aintnospringchicken · 12/12/2025 22:32

28 and 31.This was in the early 90s

Olinguita · 12/12/2025 22:34

38 with DS. Got unlucky in love and didn't meet DH til I was in my mid 30s...
I still feel a lot of shame about being an older mum and having only one child. But equally it's not hugely unusual in my generation (older millennial) so maybe time to stop beating myself up about it 🤷‍♀️

Roundaboot · 12/12/2025 22:36
  1. When I was trying I thought I'd left it late (always wanted to have my first before 30) but then when DS was born and I went to baby groups etc I felt like one of the younger mums. I was the first in my friend group to have a baby too.
slx · 12/12/2025 22:36

25 & 28

Elsraspberry · 12/12/2025 22:40

I was 25, 27 and 29. I would say on the younger side but also plenty of mums similar ages too!

SusiQ18472638 · 12/12/2025 22:42

26 and 29, I was younger than most of the other school mums with my first, and was the first to have children in my friendship group. Took us a couple of years to have our first as well but mainly just hoped to have my children by 30

Didimum · 12/12/2025 22:44

32 with twins. Average where I am.

CoodleMoodle · 12/12/2025 22:45

I was almost 25 with the first and just turned 29 with the second. I think this was fairly normal, maybe slightly younger than average where we live.

My DM had me (only child) at 35 and my MIL had DH (second born) at 36. That's how old we are now and the thought of starting again...!
