What age did you have your kids and would you say it was before, bang on or over average age wise?

OP posts:
Inahuff · 12/12/2025 17:16

23 & 26. I think it was a good time to have them.

Gardener82 · 12/12/2025 17:18

I had my son when I was 20, he’s 23 now.
I met my husband and gained a six year old step daughter when I was 32.

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 12/12/2025 17:20

31 and 33 - young for my circles in London! Thinking about another now I’m 38.

RoamingToaster · 12/12/2025 17:27

Older
35 & 38 (just days after b-day)

I’ve been terrible at putting off decisions so makes sense I would do it with children 😅. Luckily it only took a few months of trying. Lots of people I know seemed to have their first at 35. I guess it’s an age when you start to realise you don’t have that many years left.

MagnoliatheMagnificent · 12/12/2025 17:30

18 and 36!

Port1aCastis · 12/12/2025 17:43

18 one and done, now I'm going to be a grandma in the New Year at 45. No regrets and I'm looking forward to helping out with my new grandson.

GreyCloudsLooming · 12/12/2025 17:46

31 and 33. Pretty average.

Ella31 · 12/12/2025 18:28

I wanted them earlier but had a lot of pain getting to bringing them home.

Age 31 Got pregnant on my honeymoon but I had a miscarriage followed by another a few months later.

Age 32 - Was due to give birth then to my identical twins but my first boy was stillborn and my second boy died in the NICU 3 days later after life support was removed. That was 2 years ago last month. It's a pain we are still navigating.

Age 34 this year in Spring had my daughter. And a complete surprise 4 months post partum found out I'm expecting again. I'm due in April.

I'm 35 since last month - Our hearts are shattered with the death of our boys but we keep going for our daughter and baby due.

I dont regret anything , the moments with our boys was precious but I miss them terribly and wish I was cuddling them instead of tending a grave each month.

Couldyounot · 12/12/2025 18:29

29 for DS1
41 for DTSs

I'm 49 now

PiIIow · 12/12/2025 18:43

Im surprised that everyone had children so young. I thought there would be a lot more 30s and 40s.

I was 17 and 20 and I'm by far the youngest parent at the school and nursery. Everyone else is old enough to be my parent and seems very put together 🙈

Like PP, I also still feel like a teen mum and people are always shocked to find out I have children

Peanut91 · 12/12/2025 18:58

27, 30 and 34

DemonsandMosquitoes · 12/12/2025 19:07

30 and 33. That was over twenty years ago now, wouldn’t change a thing.

easytoremember · 12/12/2025 19:16

29 (I only have one).

Neurodiversitydoctor · 12/12/2025 19:28

28 & 30
Felt ypung but now sooo glad ( they are 19 & 21)

Allswellthatendswelll · 12/12/2025 19:33

33 and 36 (almost 37). Probably older than average for the UK. Bang on average for Mums in our area. Young compared to my university friends!

DelphineDonkeys · 12/12/2025 19:40

23 and I think it was younger than average, but there's a similar age gap between me and my mum and my mum and grandmother, so normal age within my family. A couple of my mum's friends had a bit of an existential crisis at her becoming a grandmother in her forties.

TwooooDoooozenRoses · 12/12/2025 19:41

27 and 30, which seemed very average.

Marble10 · 12/12/2025 19:45

25 . I could have done with waiting a few years looking back now.

Gardenalia · 12/12/2025 19:45

29, 31 and 32 in the early/mid 90s, so about average for then. I had loads of energy so carried on working all the way through. I think if I’d started later or spread them out more I would have struggled to develop my career fully.

MummyWillow1 · 12/12/2025 19:46

I had my one and only at 27, about average age 17 years ago - most of her friends mums are the same/similar age.

My Mum was 20 when she had me and her Mum was 20 when she had her.

Ladychatterly86 · 12/12/2025 20:46

33 and 35. I'm 39 now nearing 40 and feel I've aged significantly in that time...My older friends by a few years have kids that are 8+ but a lot of our friends in our circle decided not to have children at all.

HopelesslyNaive98 · 12/12/2025 20:51

26 and 28. Younger than average in my area but not wildly young. I was usually the youngest mum at baby groups in our village with my first. And at the school gates DH and I are some of the younger parents.

I work with families and I’d say the average first time mum is around 29-33 usually, although the range is obviously teens to 50s.

Editing to add: Our eldest is autistic with a PDA profile and can be remarkably hard work. I’m glad I’m up against it whilst I’ve still got the energy!

WanderlustMom · 12/12/2025 20:51

20 when I fell pregnant, just turned 21 when I gave birth. Didn’t think I was that young at the time but since my son started school I’ve realised I was quite young, all of my school mom friends are 8-10 years older than me minimum.

I’m now due my daughter in a few weeks time and I’m 26, feels a bit more average this time

TeenageSu1cideDontDoit · 12/12/2025 20:53

24 and 28. Probably considered average in the early 2000s.

TheNameWasOnceChosen · 12/12/2025 21:06

17 and 29.

First one i was way to young. Second was perfect.
