What age did you have your kids and would you say it was before, bang on or over average age wise?

My first IVF cycle I was 23 and I eventualy became a mum on my 28th birthday!

elliejjtiny · 12/12/2025 15:52

24, 25, 28, 31, 32.

About average for first 2. I wanted to have dc1 earlier but he took a while to come. Bit older than average for my younger 3, and with my youngest I was the oldest on the maternity ward so definitely older than average. The next youngest mum was 29, there was a 27 year old and all the others were teenagers.

Panda89 · 12/12/2025 16:03

I was 26 when I had my only DD in 2016.
DH was 22 which people think was very young but it was ideal for us.

devfire · 12/12/2025 16:08

19 and 28

superbakedpotato · 12/12/2025 16:09

Needaglowup · 12/12/2025 16:13

22 and 24 .. 30 years old , was young but in today age I would be young young .. but for me it was the perfect age and wouldn’t change it

16 is average?????

I think she must have meant when she had her younger kids or maybe she’s older and meant back in the day when young mums were more common.

Because I had my eldest 8 years ago when I was 16 and EVERY WHERE I went with him as a toddler/ baby I felt like a freak. I am also a midget who looked about 12 at 16 though

Canonlythinkofthisone · 12/12/2025 16:19

35, only 4 years ago and deffo classed as "geriatric" by the NHS 🤣🤣

My daughter the day before I was 20. My son at age 21. 👍

starrynight009 · 12/12/2025 16:24
  1. So older than average. Although a lot of my similar age friends had children in their late 30s.
weegiemum · 12/12/2025 16:24

I was 29, 31 and 32. About average for my age I think (was in 2000, 02 and 03).

Littlebuddh · 12/12/2025 16:27

I was 16.
Im now 39 and my baby is 23 this year.
One and done.

littleburn · 12/12/2025 16:41

One and done at 38, mostly due to having a good career that funded nice holidays and constantly ‘putting it off’ for another year 😂 It’s a bit old for where I live - most parents I know were married at 30ish and trying straight away. Clearly I’m meant to be living in London and not a midlands market town!

myglowupera · 12/12/2025 16:42

21, 23, 25, and 28

SemperIdem · 12/12/2025 16:43

Energy wise I was much more energetic at 16!

timetogetlost · 12/12/2025 16:47

30, 33 and 35.
I feel a bit old. I would have preferred 28, 30 and 32, but I hadn't met my partner in time.

Kerantli · 12/12/2025 16:53

18 and 20

I thought about having a 3rd in my late 20s, but it never happened and I don't think I'd be able to go back to the newborn stage now my eldest is the age I was when I had them!

Hollybelle83 · 12/12/2025 16:55

33 and 37. When you look at the parents at school (and all my high school girlfriends) bang on average.

DancingLions · 12/12/2025 17:02

19 and 21. Obviously this is earlier than average.

Don't regret it at all. The younger you have them, the more years you get with them. I had boundless energy. Had my freedom by my late 30s, which was better for me. For varying reasons I would not have been going to Uni or travelling the world in my 20s anyway. (I did get a degree in my early 30s). I should have picked a better dad for them but that can go wrong at any age!

Bookaholic73 · 12/12/2025 17:07

DS1 I was 20.
DS2 I was 24.

I thought I was a little on the younger side, but there are definitely advantages.
I had miles more energy and patience back then.
Now I’m in my 40s I’m so glad that I had mine when I was younger,

Eggybreadwithnuts · 12/12/2025 17:10

Just turned 38 and I felt old.
