What age did you have your kids and would you say it was before, bang on or over average age wise?

29 and 32. I would have preferred a few years earlier but it wasn't too be

Fifthtimelucky · 12/12/2025 23:26

36 and 38. Fairly normal now, but I was older than average at the time (late 1990s).

G1ngerbread · 12/12/2025 23:42

18 and 25, first clearly too young. I’d say a good age is 28. Now they’re older I’m glad. I can’t imagine having young kids in my 40’s.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 13/12/2025 07:42

I had my two at 30 and 32 I was definitely younger than than average in my area in the South East. My DH is the same age as me and is always the youngest at school even for our younger one. There was 1 mum younger than me in NCT and at primary school. They are now at secondary school and I’m definitely one of the youngest. For the whole country I know we are around average.
My Mum was treated as a elderly first time mum when having me at 27 in the late 1970! I think the area makes a difference as she was in a northern city.

Had my eldest in the late 2010s when I was 16 and I live in the south east. It’s been awkward with the other parents to say the least 😂

38 and 40. Too old at 40. 38 was ok. Would have liked them earlier but the man I was dating wasn’t good enough to be the father of my kids when I was 30. Met husband at 34, married at 35 and wanted to check he didn’t change after a couple of years like the men I dated in my 20’s did.

I think she must have meant when she had her younger kids or maybe she’s older and meant back in the day when young mums were more common.

Because I had my eldest 8 years ago when I was 16 and EVERY WHERE I went with him as a toddler/ baby I felt like a freak. I am also a midget who looked about 12 at 16 though

i’m 34 now. i’m from a council estate where it is very common for girls to have babies straight out of school. my nanna and mum also had their first baby at 16. i was kind of an anomaly as i fell pregnant aged 15 whilst still at school, but there was at least 9 or 10 girls in my year who had a baby a year or two after me.

Sorry didn’t mean to say you’re old obviously 34 isn’t old but I read somewhere between 2010 and 2020 under 18 pregnancies went down massively or something like that I was also 15/16 and pregnant in the late 2010s and felt like a freak everywhere I went. In all fairness I’m also a shortass who looked about 12 at 16 so that might of played a part

SharpBrickMaker · 16/12/2025 01:48

21 ,24 ,27 below average as most of the mums from school etc are having babies now ( we are now 34) I'm also one of the youngest mums with dd13 year group

LovesLabradors · 16/12/2025 02:40

31, 34 & 37.
Ideally I'd had had them just a couple of years earlier. I was also told I was classed as a "geriatric mother" - the definition being a mother having her first over the age of 30.

Me almost 27 DH 30. Second child 2 years later. Perfect for us. We had 10 lovely child free years and a head start with finances which set us up for life. We’re retired now.

Scorpion84 · 31/01/2026 19:24

xMonochromeRainbowx · 31/01/2026 19:27

19, 21, 22, #4 due when I'll be 27.

LorenzoCalzone · 31/01/2026 19:30

38, I'd have like to have been younger but focus on being grateful that he arrived eventually!

SkelatorIamNot · 31/01/2026 19:41

19,21 & 26 probably below average

Fatiguedwithlife · 31/01/2026 19:44

24 (felt young) 33 and 35 (felt old!)

KellySeveride · 31/01/2026 19:47

19, 22, 24 and 26. Probably well below average but at 40 I’m bloody glad I did. I could not have a newborn now. I have teenagers/almost adults/adult children and it feels glorious to me.

KnottyKnitting · 31/01/2026 19:49

31 and 33

myglowupera · 31/01/2026 19:50

user1476613140 · 31/01/2026 20:21

Echlefecker · 31/01/2026 20:31

31 and 33. I think earlier would have been better for me..27/28 would be ideal

lolomoon · 31/01/2026 20:32

29, & 33. Id say fairly average but there is a wide spectrum really these days.

cadburyegg · 31/01/2026 20:35

27 and 30, younger than average

Snoopsyz · 31/01/2026 20:40
