A brand new, new build house. Mortgaged.
Two brand new cars.
They don’t dress designer but the present well.
She has a few designer handbags.

very organised and tidy home, both work full time in good jobs.
They do family outings every few weekends but not every weekend.

average middle class family

Plump82 · 09/12/2025 11:46

Absolutely nothing. Don't think they're much different to a lot of families I know.

beefthief · 09/12/2025 11:46

This seems entirely normal unless you're going to drip feed that it's actually Fred and Rose West

BulliedSS · 09/12/2025 11:47

Why would anyone have any thoughts on this at all? Sounds normal?

skippy67 · 09/12/2025 11:47

Wouldn't register with me.

Dontyoulooktired · 09/12/2025 11:47

Well to be fair, I wouldn’t notice any of that. I wouldn’t know she had a designer handbag unless she told me.

I’d say they were quite lucky?

Different path to me, I don’t go in for new gadgets. I’ve got my dads old Henry Hoover and a ten year old hairdryer 🤣

I’d say if they are happy, they are happy. That’s all you can ask for in life.

But I don’t go round thinking about how other people live thier lives or looking at what they have got, so I wouldn’t notice enough to have an opinion.

Seawolves · 09/12/2025 11:47

About them? I think I would be too busy thinking about things in my own life to have much of a thought about them.

DappledThings · 09/12/2025 11:47

I don't have any thoughts. There's nothing remarkable about any of that.

I wouldn't ever notice if anyone was wearing designer stuff/carrying a designer handbag or was entirely kitted out in Primark.

KimHwn · 09/12/2025 11:48

I am middle class but I don't know many people who drive new cars and have designer handbags. I'd say they were on a very good wage, otoh I do know many people who are very comfortable with debt so it might be that.

Createausername1970 · 09/12/2025 11:48

I think how nice - but they shouldn't get complacent as you never know whats round the corner.

Overthebow · 09/12/2025 11:48

Standard family, not dissimilar to us and our circle (although we do have childcare costs as DCs are young).

arethereanyleftatall · 09/12/2025 11:48

Thoughts on what?

I have no thoughts whatsoever on your op.

TFImBackIn · 09/12/2025 11:48

I'd assume their jobs were well-paid. I'd assume they had a cleaner. I'd think they were good with money.

Is this you? Do people assume you're a lottery winner?

Rustymoo · 09/12/2025 11:49

Nothing, but then I don’t pay much attention to what others have or don’t have.

PevenseygirlQQ · 09/12/2025 11:49

I’d think they’re a normal family who both work full time and are spending their earnings exactly as they please

HisNibs · 09/12/2025 11:50

Why would I have any thoughts about this? Am I expected to be jealous or something?
I try not to judge people on such superficial information.

Abracadabrador · 09/12/2025 11:50

No thoughts at all, sounds very bland.

BobbyBrewstersMagicTorch · 09/12/2025 11:50

That they're probably up to their eyes in debt unless they have very high-paying jobs

My first thought is - you seem to be stalking them.

EmpressaurusKitty · 09/12/2025 11:51

I’d be far more interested in her views on women’s rights & whether she liked cats. None of the other stuff would really register.

Sadcafe · 09/12/2025 11:51

Probably pretty average younger family, nothing overly special

LeftFooter · 09/12/2025 11:51

As my DC would say, cool story.

ShesTheAlbatross · 09/12/2025 11:51

I wouldn’t think anything. I don’t think you’ve said anything at all that would make me think anything - it seems like a normal, if reasonably well off, family. But you’ve said good jobs and no childcare to pay for, so that’s not surprising.

SausageRoll2020 · 09/12/2025 11:51

I wouldn't really think anything, they sound well within the realms of normality.

average middle class family

Absolutely not an average middle class family.

To have that life style, both would have to be on £60k plus.
