OP posts:
BuildbyNumbere · 11/12/2025 10:45

That you are jealous of them.

myhaggisblewup · 11/12/2025 10:52

It's only material goods, so what? I wouldn't be impressed if you said you drove a solid gold Ferrari.
Never been jealous of anyone with supposedly more money or more exciting life style, happy with my life, not much money but I'm content.

Itiswhysofew · 11/12/2025 10:53

I'd think they've got their act together. Well done.

myhaggisblewup · 11/12/2025 10:59

There are some real twats on here saying £2 k savings a month isn't much and buying a new build. Sounds like they are the jealous ones, living in a modest house in a shit area so they have to drag someone who is doing well down.
Totally pathetic and it's immature bitchiness, they just need to fuck off and get a life.

Paganpentacle · 11/12/2025 11:02

Mortgaged to the hilt, cars on PCP, Credit Cards maxed out....

Irritatediron · 11/12/2025 11:07

DoubleHardBastard · 09/12/2025 18:54

Kindly, I'd hardly say 2k savings a month is ample. Are you able to retrain to earn more? Take in ironing? Odd jobs? Dog walking? Anything to get those savings pumped up into a more acceptable and actual ample amount.

Genuinely cannot tell if this is satire or not.

Are you at it? 😂 how is 2k savings a month not enough? What are they saving for? A house on Mars?

Well said! Yes they do! Ffs I don’t even get 2k a month never mind save 2k a month! Maybe I should just put some bricks in my pockets and walk into the sea, I’m clearly failing at life 😂

LancashireButterPie · 11/12/2025 11:15

Well done OP! You are doing well.
My DD is in a similar position. You work hard and pay taxes, tell your nosy neighbour that the next time she makes comments.

This is satire - surely? Living in a 5 bed house with nice things and saving 2k a month isn’t ample, an evening job wont make enough extra, no- you need to work 7 days a week. Maybe sell some of your oragans on the black market too. Anything to bump up those measly savings.

Why would that be your first thought?
Mine would be that they were doing well financially- be that earnings, savings or equity.
Also PCP is not necessarily a bad way to pay for a car due to it generally depreciating (unlike property).

DoubleHardBastard · 09/12/2025 13:31

That's quite a low income tbh. Surprised you manage to get what you have, does your DH earn similar?

Oof, catty!

Sam9769 · 11/12/2025 11:34

I think that question should be what the Mums netters think of you?
You sound like a really nosey and jealous neighbour who is preoccupied with this hardworking normal couple!

OP is one of people in that hardworking normal couple

Rewis · 11/12/2025 11:43

I would not say average family. A normal relatively high income family. Not a they must have won a lottery but a they must havw a good income.

Newbuilt depends on location. I have friends who bought new builds with nurses salary at 25 cause they cost less than 30yo house in where I live. But to me it is having latest gadgets. If everyone in teh fanily frequently buy new gadgets that cost over £1000 (like an iPhone), you're not on a budget. Average middle class family is on a budget.

People don't have to apologise for their wealth. They should embrace it and be happy woth what they have. Ignore what your neighbours and sister says. However, it doesn't hurt to aknowledge to yourself that this is not how average family lives.

A pity she didn't just say it in the first place!

Daisydoodlepoo · 11/12/2025 13:17

I have been following the thread as curious as to why OP posted in the first place, but still none the wiser as to her purpose of starting the debate if not to seek comparisons and validation of achievements. There will always be people with comparatively more money/material success than you so that is a pointless measure, or aspiration for a happy life. If neighbours and family are making comments then I can't help feeling you quite like it that they are? As I say no idea what you posted though.

Answered before I read that … showing off then! Wants everyone to say how great she is at life.

Calm down, getting yourself a bit over excited.

KilkennyCats · 10/12/2025 17:48

If you were that happy, op, you wouldn’t be on here looking for validation / applause, or whatever it is you wanted from this thread 🤷🏻‍♀️
What exactly did you want, I still can’t work it out?

A round of applause and a medal 🥇 by the sounds of it.
This thread is 😴

HippeePrincess · 11/12/2025 15:01

I’d think you were daft wasting money on 2x brand new cars. That’s it really, that and I’d hope you were investing rather than overpaying on the mortgage depending on the interest rate, I’d wonder why you were overpaying the mortgage.

It's satire. The phrase "take in some ironing" is a MN joke suggested as a way for someone to make a bit of extra money who is bragging about wealth 😉

DoubleHardBastard · 11/12/2025 19:42

Thatsalineallright · 10/12/2025 17:41

Clearly. By my definition, saving over 20 percent of your take home pay every month while also overpaying on the mortgage, raising kids, and paying pensions is doing very well.

Well you're clearly happy to amount to too much in life but everyone is different!

DoubleHardBastard · 11/12/2025 19:58

Yourlifeinyourhands · 11/12/2025 10:19

Or physically can’t save that much! Jesus what a shitty reply!

Perhaps they should get better paid jobs and some side jobs?
