The BBC should lose the license fee and be forced to operate like any other streaming service after the complete destruction of trust this week

Thats it really, the BBC lied to us, all of us.

They edited a Trump speech to make him look like he said something he did not.

They pushed one side of the transgender debate relentlessly, deliberately hiding negative stories on detransitioners, the US WPATH file and thousands of more cases

https://archive.ph/wWdMS

https://archive.ph/uiEKW

They have cancelled people for wrong-think at every opportunity, pushed drag queens over women, turned woman hours into mens hour, constantly attacked anyone who does not share their extreme liberal left wing views and kept them off the news cycle

They have utterly and completely lost all trust, they ARE biased they DON'T give balance in the news

Everyone thought it was a conspiracy, now we know it's actually true and we have PROOF

Today the BBC Director and News Director have both quit in absolute disgrace.

It is time the BBC was consigned to the dustbin because we are never getting back to the BBC I loved and trusted, the one that ran programmes to inform and entertain and educate, that BBC is long gone.

Replace it, completely.

All three of those cases are about to find overwhelmingly in favour of the females who lost their privacy and dignity to a man. You wouldn't think it was such a sure thing if you had only read the BBC.

Emm exactly.

People aren't forced to pay a licence fee to watch GBNews or Fox. The licence fee is the issue. If the BBC was a normal channel they could do what they wanted and people could choose to pay for it or watch it or not. The market would decide.

Yes if they can create decent content people could subscribe.

Merrilydancing · 09/11/2025 21:14

The BBC is our national broadcaster and at one point the news was seen across the world as the gold standard of journalistic integrity.

For it to lose its credibility as being impartial is shocking and completely playing into the hands of those like Trump who decry fake news at the drop of hat as in this case it’s been proven to be true.

We should be able to trust its journalistic output as otherwise we will be left with media controlled by the billionaires rather than the people.

I agree, baffled seeing that comment.

The Telegraph article states this:

”The dossier uncovers bias at the BBC Arabic service. One man who said Jews should be burned “as Hitler did” appeared as a guest on BBC Arabic 244 times in 18 months, while another who described Israelis as less than human and Jews as “devils” appeared 522 times in the same period. It also revealed differences in how BBC Arabic covered Israel compared to the main BBC English language news website.”

This has a pretty comprehensive report on all the concerns outlined in Prescott’s dossier about how the Gaza conflict was reported both by Arabic bbc and the main bbc websites:

BBC boss Tim Davie addresses ‘antisemitic behaviour’ in note to staff

It comes after the broadcaster received a number of complaints about its reporting of the Israel-Hamas war.

Yes but you don't have to pay for Netflix to be allowed to watch other channels. It's the funding model for the BBC that is the issue.

proximalhumerous · 09/11/2025 21:15

Not only is this unacceptable behaviour by the BBC but it has given credibility to actual conspiracy theories which is the last thing we need.

The quality of the user experience of player is not the question (it's also shite anyway)

Whats at question is can we ever trust the BBC and the evidence says - fuck no.

For most of my 70 years, I have trusted BBC News to tell the truth. I know people who work for the BBC. My auntie and uncle spent their entire careers there, in craft skills (make up and lighting). But politics work their way in and R4 in particular is highly political. I still love it but the people hired to broadcast on it, while clever and thoughtful, reflect London and the big cities rather than "little England" and we should remember that little England's small towns and provinces still represent over 80% of the population. The BBC is losing that focus.

Their license fee goes towards

Education
Radio
Tv
Documentaries
News (whether you like the bbc) from around the world
Weather
Sports coverage

The news is relatively reliable, although mistakes are made, I dont think they should lose the license fee because of it 😭

Namechanged999999 · 09/11/2025 21:20

focusing on the BBC the way they have behaving is appalling. The way they have treated the Sandi peggi and the Darlington nurses tribunal is unacceptable. The are the bigoted prejudiced bastards that they call people. They are reprehensible in what they’ve done. And yes, pregrant people are women.

Namechanged999999 · 09/11/2025 21:21

no the news is DEMONSTRABLY not reliable. Literal proof, right here, in this thread.

Nothing they say can be trusted because they are so very, provably biased.

That's it. they are gone, dead, worthless.

Not entirely sure if you are disagreeing with me or not???

Blinkingbother · 09/11/2025 21:26

i think the individuals in question, as well as the bosses, should face punitive fines. They were in jobs paid by the taxpayer and should return some of the salaries they didn’t deserve. Utterly humiliating for the UK and the BBC.

😭😭 i'd say its fairly reliable

Yes errors in judgement exist, which have affected both sides of the political realm (anyone remember the picture of Jeremy corbyn on newsnight?) But its very good and we shouldn't be getting rid of it

You might think it is very good but many other people disagree. Let people make their own choice as to whether to pay for it or not.

they are not covering law cases that are ongoing just now that will shape the law. They could have covered the Supreme Court ruling that biological sex is immutable but they didn’t. They have an agenda. TBH it is a totally indefensible agenda that men should be able to stipp off in front of women and insist that women strip off in front of them and if those women don’t do that they are transphobes. Have you any comment?

Namechanged999999 · 09/11/2025 21:30

BBC are obsolete because of their draconian stupid views.

I disagree

Without the bbc setting the standard for journalism (yes there are errors) we will have murdoch's lot completely taking over and fake, unreliable news everywhere

Some things should be protected - nhs, bbc, dwp 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
