The BBC should lose the license fee and be forced to operate like any other streaming service after the complete destruction of trust this week

Thats it really, the BBC lied to us, all of us.

They edited a Trump speech to make him look like he said something he did not.

They pushed one side of the transgender debate relentlessly, deliberately hiding negative stories on detransitioners, the US WPATH file and thousands of more cases

They have cancelled people for wrong-think at every opportunity, pushed drag queens over women, turned woman hours into mens hour, constantly attacked anyone who does not share their extreme liberal left wing views and kept them off the news cycle

They have utterly and completely lost all trust, they ARE biased they DON'T give balance in the news

Everyone thought it was a conspiracy, now we know it's actually true and we have PROOF

Today the BBC Director and News Director have both quit in absolute disgrace.

It is time the BBC was consigned to the dustbin because we are never getting back to the BBC I loved and trusted, the one that ran programmes to inform and entertain and educate, that BBC is long gone.

Replace it, completely.

Because they are women.

Exactly. It's odd to say they 'retain' their uterus because they're not actually changing anything but the words they use in most cases. Well, OK they may take hormones but that doesn't change your biological sex.

I agree the Trump thing was bad, and the coverage of the trans issue wasn't great (but has been getting more balanced recently I think).

But I also think, be careful what you wish for. I'd rather have the Beeb than a choice between Netflix or Farage News ...

Well I wouldn't.

Well I wouldn't.

The decade of identity politics spirals in the news department has somewhat destroyed the Beeb’s reputation for “impartiality”. It was never perfect but at one time was reliable in the same way that (allowing for slant you could rely on the broadsheets. The Beeb’s bias was to a metropolitan centre liberal status quo.

One of the models I’ve seen suggested a few times was to spin off BBC news/World service in the way that ITN is separate from all the ITV companies. I’d do something like that but bundle in radio. I’d also restructure the news production back to a model which isn’t designed for capture by vested interest groups - Davie’s model was always going to be at risk, it says a lot that he and his senior management either didn’t realise or didn’t care.

All the rest is competing with subscription/advertising services which produce similar quality output. It used to be the case that the Beeb set the standard for the other terrestrial channels but that long since ceased to be the case.
