The racism on the Huntingdon train threads is appaling

Just as the title says. The blatant racism and jumping to conclusions on the threads has been terrible. Mumsnet used to be a more informed intelligent place.

racism - the favourite word of so many people

Yeah, there's a reason for that.

Pervasive racism.

It indeed was another violent crime carried out by the usual suspects. The usual suspects being men. Idiotic talk of colour, immigration status, nationality, religion is all to avoid tackling and talking about the real issue of male violence. That is the consistent common denominator.

Yes. Thank you for saying this.

There's one thing the perpetrators of all of these acts have in common. It's not race. It's not religion. It's not ideology. It's that every single one of them is male.

Women don't stab people on trains. Women don't drive cars into crowds. Women don't suicide bomb concerts or shoot people walking home from the pub. Women don't fly planes into buildings.

It's always, everywhere and forever, f**king men.

That's the common denominator.

The Mail has been particularly awful with people posting insane stuff such as "it is all Sadiq Kahn's fault"

I saw a post from Nigel on Facebook this morning, couple of hours before the announcement was made and he called for the names and backgrounds of those involved to be released. Reading between the lines, it was obviously to do with race because scrolling through the hundreds of comments from his supporters were statements to ‘stop them coming over here, memes of small boats, calling for him to sort this country out and how we will never be safe until they’re all gone’ - it’s people like him, in power, who stir up the hatred. Once the details have been released, more comments on ‘if a dog is born in a stable, it doesn’t make him a horse’ started pouring in. It’s such a horrific society we live in right now.

Don’t call him by his first name. He is not your friend. This is how it begins. This happened with Johnson as well. People jovially referring to him as “Boris” and “BoJo”, and look where that got us all.

I understand that you’re not on his side, but it’s still legitimising him, and he’s one of the chief architects of this horrific society we’re in.

My 2pence on this matter:

The Government, media, and general establishment are extremely effective at getting their masses dismiss all sense and logic.

No sane, lucid, person wakes up one day and decides to stab strangers on a train. Police already acknowledged the attack on train passengers was not terrorism.

So logically one can deduce the attacker does not have all their mental faculties. So why won't the Gov/ media acknowledge this? Because it represents the failure of our mental institutions, and by extension, failure of Gov.

Moreover, when a significant proportion of the population is convinced the issue is attributed the attacker's ethnicity (not their mental deficiencies), Gov want to be seen as working towards a solution. Even if problem is imaginary.

I don’t know the details of this specific case, but UK Mental health services have been critically poorly funded for more than 10 years. And mental ill health has become more prevalent across the whole population in this time.

The vast majority of people having a mental health crisis harm themselves rather than others if they don’t get help. That is by far the biggest risk. But a small percentage harm others.

Spare a thought for your poor blood pressure and avoid the Mail.

Thank you. Well said.

Yes - absolutely this. XY chromosome is the common denominator

Nestingbirds · 02/11/2025 20:29

It’s true that we have a growing issue in this country of integration, I don’t think many would disagree.

The police have only confirmed it’s ’likely’ that it is not terrorism. They can’t possibly know this early on.

UnderstoodBetsy · 02/11/2025 20:30

Spot on @Perplexed20 MNHQ should crack down on the racism. It's disgraceful that so many blatantly racist posts are allowed to stand.

But, but - what an incredibly offensive, demonstrably true statement, when we all know that NOT ALL MEN ARE LIKE THAT

AlohaMyMan · 02/11/2025 20:31

Can someone send me the thread? There's been a few. I want to see what the "bad one" is.

Nestingbirds · 02/11/2025 20:32

It’s also important to recognise that some of these attacks are and have been racist, it is rooted in hatred against white people. I feel some education is required around this.

luckylavender · 02/11/2025 20:32

Completely shameful. How did we get here?

AlohaMyMan · 02/11/2025 20:34

Women don't - I mean in Melbourne a woman stabbed another woman randomly in the street and the victim had a punctured lung.

A black woman in the states stabbed a young 2 year old in death in front of his mum. It's probably a lot less. And a lot less reported. But it happens.

But as I asked before what is the "bad thread"?

Yellowcardigan · 02/11/2025 20:00

Of course British/white/Christians commit crimes, but generally not this type of crime in Britian.

If we pretend that there isn't a problem with radicalisation we can't tackle it. The bona fides of the poster you're replying to may be suspect, but surely most of us wonder about why an attack like this happens. In recent years in Western Europe, this type of crime has be carried out by radical Islamists.

I worried that it might have been an Islamic fundamentalist, simply because of the nature of the crime, and I worried because it gives a field day to anti-Muslim sentiment.

I don't think this makes me racist.

Cumbria, Hungerford, Dunblane, Harold Shipman?

Not just Mumsnet, it's all social media. The open and blatant racism on Facebook is so fucking depressing. And they're all saying the same things too and liking each others posts and all riling each other up urgh

Totally agree, it's incredibly open now, all social media, newspaper comment sections too. The reason I quit twitter is because of the racism and lies, I just felt dirty and angry on that website. There is so little fact checking done by racists either and when something pointed out that it's simply not true they get aggressive and double down instead of use their brains.

It is really not helped by people like Starmer not standing up to racism better, instead seems to be attempting to appease the Reform type voter instead. We need a clear and strong person to lead us out of this horrible, nasty mess imo.

Going back further, could name half a dozen other white, British mass murderers.

90%+ of violent crime worldwide is by men, yes.

But in my home country, 55% of murders are committed by black people, despite comprising 13% of the population.

Why do you only want to talk about the first items and not the second?

Goldeh · 02/11/2025 20:37

CloudPop · 02/11/2025 18:52

Have you seen the one where they are discussing what sprays (pepper, Deep
Heat) should be carried as the government is no longer caring for us

As someone who has an anaphylactic allergy to deep heat type sprays, I'm worried about it being sprayed around willy-nilly by people who barely have two brain cells to rub together.

Wonder how long it'll be before there's a rise in chemical attacks by dickheads spraying stuff around because they saw a brown person "acting suspiciously". I am genuinely concerned for innocent people who are going to experience race-based hatred from these knuckle-draggers.

It almost always men isn't it? when i go on the website of my local newspaper there are endless court cases of rape, sexual assault, paedophilia, relationship violence, stabbings, burglary and random horrible attacks in the city centre. The unifying factor is that they are nearly always men.

It’s insane. The UK is on a febrile knife edge, stoked by manipulative egomaniacals like Farage.
Throw in potentially millions of people spraying others when they’re a bit spooked. What could possibly go wrong?
Not to mention that if these substances are legally available to everyone, that includes those with criminal intent. Der.
