Just as the title says. The blatant racism and jumping to conclusions on the threads has been terrible. Mumsnet used to be a more informed intelligent place.

  1. The American statistic is not a real statistic. The 50% is charges not convictions
  2. The screenshot was a fake screenshot as it applied a US (incorrect) stat to the UK

You think there’s a lot of black men that are being picked up for murders done by white people? I sure don’t.

I have to disagree with you up to a point here - Jo Phoenix is very well established in her field and area of expertise. She is however very focused on gender, and specifically on transgender issues. I am in agreement with her in terms of women in sport and women in the prison system, although I do not agree with her on everything.

She is however not an expert in issues of crime and ethnicity, and her ideas and beliefs do not automatically mean that all other criminologists are therefore wrong. Dismissing the entire field of criminology because not all criminologists are laser focused on all things transgender is ridiculous.

So is she actually a criminologist?

Yes, she's a professor of criminology. Doesn't mean she's an expert in this particular field. As I have said, being laser focused on all things trans makes her less credible when it comes to crime and ethnicity.
