The racism on the Huntingdon train threads is appaling

Just as the title says. The blatant racism and jumping to conclusions on the threads has been terrible. Mumsnet used to be a more informed intelligent place.

Yes it is racist once the police have said there's no evidence and the sole reason for claiming it's a terror attack is because the suspect is Black.

There’s a difference in saying “this could be terrorism” and saying “this is probably terrorism, which is caused by people on small boats who are all criminals like all Muslims are fundamentally regressive oh and now we know the police have arrested black men let’s not forget that you’re only properly British if you’re a white person. (Although the police are probably lying - not about the black thing though)”

If people didn’t want to be accused of racism they could have tried not being racist.

Reporting racist posts is at least doing something - more productive than e.g. sending thoughts and prayers. What other actions do you suggest?

What I see is a lot of fact free fear mongers. Who would want that? Does it help the UK?

If you keep telling people that civil war is coming and they're about to be attacked by hordes of invading migrants then the country will start to feel less safe, obviously.

A very much under discussed phenomenon in the US is that, when black men are less likely to be incarcerated (often ebbing and flowing with political climate), black females will commit more homicides. Some years it will be, on a per capita basis, higher than white males. Always higher than East Asian males, at any rate.

Now these particular crimes are not very much discussed because they tend to be (though obvs not exclusively) family based, so do not affect the wider community (however it can and should be discussed and better understood).

You can keep telling yourself that if it brings you comfort. Every single day there’s another rape being committed by men who haven’t long been in the country. We’re not a serious country anymore that prioritises the safety and security of citizens.

I dont disagree that the UK is in a difficult place. If youd actually read this thread you would have seen that Huntingdon is my local town. I work all over the country.
I also know that racism and division doesnt help.

It is fact. Millions are arriving every year. That is fact. Are you suggesting it isn’t true? It’s not ‘racism’ to point out that it’s putting unbearable strain on infrastructure, housing, hospitals and social care.

You could at least try and be subtle about it.

How odd. I can name a few mass shoutings by white British men, but not stabbings. There may have been some, but aside from serial killers like Jack the Ripper, knives don’t seem to be the weapon of choice for white men here.

So the poster stating that ‘our’ mass attackers don’t seem to use methods ‘like this’, is probably true.
