The racism on the Huntingdon train threads is appaling

Just as the title says. The blatant racism and jumping to conclusions on the threads has been terrible. Mumsnet used to be a more informed intelligent place.

So I see that the train employee classed as a national hero in the press is called Samir Zitouni, and wasn’t born in the UK. How irritating for the racists!

😲 shock, somebody opining differently to you. Wow.

yes actually shocked that is your opinion.

doesn’t make it a fact, just because you’ve added some statistic.

in America they have a problem with shooters .

this country has a rise in problems with mental health and police systems not reacting to things and supporting them. - I say this as someone who has worked in this sector and has seen many things and experienced more cases of near misses or real events that could and should have been prevented.

this man had attacked another person hours before and left and went on to do this.

our focus should be on why that was allowed to happen - asking questions , accountability why he wasn’t apprehended and supported before.

i don’t want to hear you clutch pearls.

I want to hear why what I said was wrong, specifically.

People migrate for many many reasons.

The reason asylum seekers migrate is to leave behind violence and find peace.

I'm very surprised this isn't mentioned more often.

So it's OK to be racist if a black not immigrant person commits a crime. Got it. Doesn't sound stupid at all.

Most of us are intelligent enough to condemn the attack and the racist speculation simultaneously. Both are worthy of condemnation.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me

btw never been called white or middle class in my life

Do you think it’s acceptable for locals to experience higher levels of sexual violence to accommodate them? Because that is what happened (specifically wrt asylum seekers).

I have been called white and middle class by an a reform voter on Facebook. Who coincidentally also said that until all the immigrants are gone the lefties should be shut in nut houses to keep 'normal' people safe.

Which rather proves your point.

That’s not true at all. The fact is that asylum seekers are no more dangerous than your Uncle Dave or your husband John Smithington.

They will argue that he’s copying the British values but his real nature will eventually come out.

It’s only a matter of time.

Swiftasthewind · 04/11/2025 16:57

I was there on that thread when speculation was rife that the assailant was somebody from a ‘foreign’ culture, and I had to excuse myself because I was incandescent with rage at all the racism that posters were spewing from their ignorant keyboards.

Now that it has been firmly shown that the person in question is British, I want all the racists to now answer a simple question. What is it about British culture that makes someone want to get on a train and attack a bunch of random bystanders with a bladed instrument? I ask you that because every time a terrorist attack happens apparently Muslims have to answer for the crime that was commited, so now it is your turn to stand on the dock and give us an answer for why your culture is so toxic. What will you do to make sure nobody is attacked again?

You are certainly most at risk from the men around you, just like children are most at risk of CSA from their male relatives.

That is a risk that is baked in—not easy to solve. Allowing young men from more misogynistic cultures presents an additional risk that was absent previously. Particularly if they were unvetted.

It was always going to be a risk for women and girls—but I guess your government thought it was a risk worth taking for whatever reason.

Which cultures are that? The US?

What culture could possibly be more misogynistic than this one? Have you seen the threads on this forum? Misogyny is absolutely rife up and down the country. If anything, bringing in men from elsewhere will make the country overall less misogynistic, not more.

NotaTastyVegan · 04/11/2025 17:11

Yes not our men
except we can find many examples of ‘your’ men.

But that’s our criminals.
soon we’ll hear they’ve been influenced and poisoned .

The countless posts about men that are violent partners , cheating, lying, stealing , not carrying the mental load, not parenting, cock-lodging, found out they have a paedophile in their family, they don’t respect women , the men that are financially abusive , controlling.

nope the problem is the other men- and their backward culture .

“A higher tendency towards violence” than who? The British? Do you know the history of the British?

NotaTastyVegan · 04/11/2025 17:29

Black man — it’s in their nature.
Muslim man — it’s their religion.
Immigrant — they’re stealing our jobs.
Asylum seekers — they’re all liars and criminals obviously

White man — let’s pause, investigate, and try to understand what drove him.

Not long ago it was acceptable to have ‘ No dogs, coloured or Irish’ .

NotaTastyVegan · 04/11/2025 16:25

Oh wow .
you really said that.

Here you go. Some stats from Denmark which are replicated in other European counties with current levels of immigration.

Here are the top countries of origin of the men with most convictions for violent crime compared to Danish men. They are significantly higher per capita.

Kuwait, Tunisia, Lebanon, Somalia ,Jordan Uganda Morocco Iraq Algeria.

British men are 48th on the list. A long way down.

Below are the stats from the Mayor of London on knife crime in the capital. I have included the link so people can go and look for themselves. PP complained earlier that I am ‘cherrypicking’ information so I encourage people to go and read as much as they want for themselves. The link is below.

Maybe you could read it and then explain why you disagree with PPs observation that if men from countries where violence is extremely common enter this country, there is a much higher likelihood that they will be violent here.

We also need to bear in mind that being born in this country to parents that have moved here also doesn’t automatically equate to full assimilation with British culture, practices and levels of violence. Some people love being here, are welcomed and join in to contribute to our society, and some don’t. We need to look at the ones who don’t as they are the ones who end up hurting people.

This Assembly is concerned that despite making up only 13% of London’s total population, black Londoners account for 45% of London’s knife murder victims, 61% of knife murder perpetrators and 53% of knife crime perpetrators.

You were stoking the fires on those threads by hoping that it was a white person and trying to blame it on football fans.

Black men in Britain are significantly more likely to commit knife crime than white British. That is a fact. We need to look at the reasons why and stop yelling racist at anyone who tries to discuss it.

Islamic extremists have committed the vast majority of terrorist attacks since 2000. We also need to talk about that.

Have you listened to any of the Muslims in these threads that would also like to talk about that? No, I don’t think you have.
