LOL. No, love. Have you ever spoken to any women of JKR's generation? You seem a bit lacking in historical literacy. You might wanna educate yourself about which women it was who were marching FOR gay rights back in the day.

And which extremely conservative demographic was sat in its twinsets and pearls in the Beaumont Society saying it didn't want associating with any of those yucky horrible gays....

Is stupidity and laziness and hating on women over 30 totally edgy for your generation or something? I suggest you might want to start exercising some critical thinking skills.

Are all the people on that magazine cover trans women?

Nope but it's a well known fact that JK Rowling is a trans woman! In fact she even published her first books as a man and her daughter had clarified that JK Rowling her very famous single mother in fact used to be her single father!
But hey who needs facts!

Can we start calling trans people/trans allies gynaephobic? They really do seem determined to hate on women.

Well you got there in the end.

Iamnotalemming · 31/10/2025 17:17

JKR is not wrong. How depressing and offensive. On so many levels.

AliceMaforethought · 31/10/2025 17:17

Noiamnotalison · 31/10/2025 14:41

Spot on as always.

Only in a man’s mind does a man makes a far superior woman.

I don't think that Glamour is run by men. Plenty of women support this as well.

Have you shared the wrong link? Because I don't see the "dolls" on there. But neither do I see Hannah Hampton....

Sorry yes, shared the US link I think by mistake - here's the UK page.

Absolutely.

The posts are very enlightening.

If we didn't already know how deeply misogynistic the trans movement is then these posts illustrate it perfectly well.

I don't see it quite that way. I have a lot of sympathy for the whole "stuck in the wrong body" thing. I originate from a country which has had "eunuchs" for centuries, and a widespread and unquestioned understanding and acceptance of these individuals into their (not especially elevated) status in society. It's a thing. Not in anywhere near the proportions that social media would have you believe in the handful of western countries that seem to have lost their minds to this concept, and there's definitely a lot of bandwagonning going on - but I don't dismiss it out of hand. Basically, I think there is a third category and I feel desperately sorry for the hard path these people have to beat. They're deserving of status and respect the same as the other two categories of humans. But that path is necessary because they're neither men nor women, they're something else. So this kind of tweet is just bollocks (ha). Clickbait, basically.

There have always been gender non conforming people. Different societies have categorised that and made sense of it in different ways. But it has no bearing on biology which is fixed.

PractisingMyTelekenipsis · 31/10/2025 17:20

She's not wrong

I was too fat to be a proper woman in the 90s
I'm too female to be one now. Hey ho.

I'm also too busy doing all the womanly drudge work to worry too much.

LizzieSiddal · 31/10/2025 17:25

An irrelevant magazine trying to get publicity.

I hope this goes as well for Glamour as this sort of thing did for Budweiser.

DialSquare · 31/10/2025 17:29

Yep, she’s right. Dick panderers gonna pander.

WearyAuldWumman · 31/10/2025 17:12

Isn't it?

So much hatred and bile.

Still, throughout history, there have always been regressive misogynists and their silly "I totally love being subjugated, me" handmaidens hating on feminist women, trying to prove how 'cool' they supposedly are. Funny to see they're all still out in force. Patriarchy & its pathetic enablers never fully dies away, I see.

SomethingFun · 31/10/2025 17:33

I stopped reading shit like glamour years ago because I realised every single article and product placement was designed to make me feel like I wasn’t good enough as I was. Perhaps trans women are a better demographic to target into spending money on stuff.

Hannah Hampton is ace, what a shame they couldn’t put her on the cover seeing as though she has actually achieved something.

RNApolymerase · 31/10/2025 17:35

If the aim of the online-only not in print anymore magazine was to get clicks they've done well, I'm sure. Nobody knew they were still going until stirring up a bit of controversy.

What irks me is that the achievements of actual women have to be so much greater to get into lists like this. What have the "dolls" achieved particularly, other than playing up to a regressive stereotype that you'd hope had been left behind by now?

See I love this response.
The difference being that gay people wanted support and acceptance, not to insert themselves into women only spaces.
(I’m talking about gay men obviously)

Well, so-called "women's" magazines were originally started by men, after all. Mainly to "help show" women how they could be more ideal supporters to men, homemakers, prettier etc. Not much has changed, imo, it's just more fashion-industry oriented now - again, all about how we can be prettier and more useful "dolls" for men. This vacuous cover seems like the logical end point of the male-centric fashion mag ethos, really.

Oh not this again. Not accepting men as as some version of women is not at all the same as homophobia. It's incredibly different and it's insulting and lazy that it keeps being trotted out as some sort of gotcha.
