Excellent work Glamour - I'll get a copy from the newsagents. Wouldn't be aware of this otherwise so thanks OP! The rest of the women of the year are also worth reading about - including Hannah Hampton, a first class goalie who helped us secure a second Euros victory.

Please do let me know which newsagents you’re going to purchase this from. 😂

Thatstheheatingon · 31/10/2025 16:03

I've googled Hannah Hampton off the back of this thread. Why couldn't she be on the cover?

Sadly she doesn't have enough male privilege to qualify. Better luck next time Hannah!

HPFA · 31/10/2025 16:23

Kind of says it all when people extol how great a female sportsperson is but also think they should be dislodged if any male decides he "feels like a woman".

Hellohelga · 31/10/2025 16:09

I’m confused. So dolls is a general term for trans women? Are all those people on the cover men? Where’s Hannah Hampton then - hidden in the content?

HH is amazing and makes me proud to be a British woman as does Mary Earps and all our glorious Lionesses. This mag is an insult to women.

Yes, "Dolls" is a term for trans women and yes, all those people on the cover are male.

frostedpixie · 31/10/2025 16:33

Unadulterated gaslighting.

Who in god's name is their target demographic? That's the real question.

How disgusting to call women dolls. We are real people, not delicate princesses to be handled with care.

Transwomen are always about the beauty and sexy, never about the mental load, doing the laundry or the dishes and sorting out the car insurance.

Luckily it’s men with synthetic identities they’re calling dolls. Fake and plastic. Not sure they’re bright enough to realise that though.

In years to come people are going to look back on this period in history and think society had collectively lost its mind

I sure hope so.

YABU. Great response from Glamour. Hatred of trans people is no different to the past prevalence and social acceptance of homophobia. Shame on anyone who agrees with JK Rowling.

Fuck me dead. Are you for real? The terrifying thing is that you probably are.

Yes they are all men.

Actually if you go to the Glamour UK website, the Dolls are right at the bottom - very easy to appreciate the 9 other women who've been given the award while avoiding the Dolls if you really want to!

Have you shared the wrong link? Because I don't see the "dolls" on there. But neither do I see Hannah Hampton....

It's not transphobic to eye roll at the fact that a magazine aimed at young women has 9 males as the women of the year.

Women are, or ought to be, sick of this shit.

If you are a woman, and you are not, give your head a wobble.

Of course I’m for real. I know a number of trans people and the intimidation / attacks they face on a regular basis is terrifying. I also know gay men who have homophobic abuse directed at them - but there’s rarely a threat of physical violence against them (speaking only from the people I know).

If they are being intimidated or attacked, a) that’ll be by men, not women and b) it won’t be anything in the level of women and girls being intimidated or attached. Trans people are actually one of the safest demographics in the UK.

Who still buys magazines? But yes, JKR is right.

The "Dolls", obviously. Mind you, it's a market.

(I'm glad I haven't bought Glamour in many years. Only disappointed that I cannot tell them they have lost me as a reader).

Fuck me, the misogyny of accusing women of bigotry because they're pissed off that 9 men were centered in a what is supposed to be an acknowledgement of womens achievements. Perhaps they're telling us women are such under achievers they had to include some blokes to make the numbers up.

Mmm, male on male violence is a huge problem.

Are you also terrified by male on female violence?

It feels regressive to have a magazine cover like that in this day and age whether they were born women or not. It's highly objectifying and like something from 25 years ago.

Yup. "In order to be appreciated as a woman, you need to have extensive plastic surgery and wear make-up."

OdeToTheNorthWestWind · 31/10/2025 17:03

No, They're men!

LeftieRightsHoarder · 31/10/2025 17:05

EdTeach · 31/10/2025 14:23

The magazine’s childish response.

"Better luck next year, Jo". I might have found that witty when I was 12, before wondering why a beautiful and successful woman would want to look like, or compete with, a bunch of mainly sullen posturing men.

Is 12 the age group Glamour is aiming at?

Ofc JKR is right.

Overtheseatosun · 31/10/2025 17:08

Maybe the only people who still buy magazines are blokes in dresses? Maybe they’ve focussed grouped this and they are their only market these days. I sure as shit won’t ever buy a ‘Glamour’ ever again. They clearly have no idea about women at all.
