Do you think you could get away with it?

OP posts:
BlueJuniper94 · 07/10/2025 06:49

I wouldn't want to

EsmeWeatherwaxHatpin · 07/10/2025 06:50

No. Not with modern forensics and digital tracking and CCTV.

50 years ago? More likely.

BMW6 · 07/10/2025 06:52

Nah. People always make a mistake and get caught out.

Whether they get arrested is another issue

QuirkyHorse · 07/10/2025 06:52

Doubt it.
But I tell my dh to be very worried if he spots a big hole and I come home with a pig from market 😂 (we live on a farm, so it wouldn't be unusual to come home with a random animal in tow)

Although you'd have to have a hard heart and a strong stomach to watch/know the pig was eating a body.

user1471508872 · 07/10/2025 06:53

I’m ego absolutely convinces me I could, but in reality I would be caught pretty fast 😂

Frankblackwife · 07/10/2025 06:53

The solve rate is still not v high, so some people must.

I think they’re are loads of murders that go unnoticed. Put down as accidents or natural causes. The point is we don’t know.

Frankblackwife · 07/10/2025 06:56

My aim was not moral quandries, more technicalitie

whatcanthematterbe81 · 07/10/2025 06:57

you gotta push em off a cliff (or down the stairs for less drama) can’t prove it. I’ve heard

Bladderpool · 07/10/2025 06:58

It’s easy to get away with murder if it’s very badly investigated. I’ve listened to so many true crime podcasts where inept/incompetent/lazy/corrupt policing have allowed murders to go unsolved for decades.

I still fret about minor things I did wrong from 50 years ago so, no, I’d fess up pretty quickly.

Frankblackwife · 07/10/2025 06:59

Tbf my own pyjama bottoms have tried to kill me on the stairs a few times

OP posts:
HappyGolmore2 · 07/10/2025 06:59

I listened to a crime podcast and the experts said it’s getting rid of the body that gets most people caught…
I can’t imagine killing anyone though, so I don’t think I’ll need to worry about it too much.

Mrsoftandhisstrangeworld · 07/10/2025 06:59

I'd like to think I could push someone off a cliff but in reality I can barely get a basket of washing upstairs so the chances of pushing an adult human close enough to the cliff edge for them to 'fall' is zero.

Maybe mushroom poisoning but we've seen how that can be messed up.

I think murder is overrated. I'd prefer long term vengeance so the person I hated so much was around to see their own demise. Mwahahahahahaha

TheFateofOphelia · 07/10/2025 07:00

No way. I'm a massive over sharer when nervous and would (in a non bragging way) let slip what I'd done.

Tv shows always make it look easy, one slip or bump on the head and boof! Someone’s gone… I don’t think that’s the reality though.

TurtleCavalryIsSeriousShit · 07/10/2025 07:01

I think I'm more likely to get away with it because I live in South Africa.

Just recently a tourist here "left his wife to continue her hike" and she fell off a cliff. Pretty sure he purposely chose this country because our police force is a joke.

A few years ago a couple came here on their honeymoon and the man arrange a car highjacking where his wife got killed.

Mind you, the police did manage to figure that one out fairly quickly, but he was an idiot.

If you're clever, I really think you could get away with it here. Sadly.

Edited to add the cliff story is alleged. It's still very recent and no-one has charged the husband with anything

Frankblackwife · 07/10/2025 07:02

I don't think it would be that hard to push someone off a cliff

I’m so clumsy I’d probably topple over too with the force you’d need to use. I think it would actually be very hard to shove someone off a cliff, both physically AND emotionally.
You’d have to hate their guts, and what would I be doing strolling about on top of cliffs with someone I hated enough to murder????

Littletreefrog · 07/10/2025 07:08

No way because I'm absolutely rubbish at dealing with emotional baggage by myself and I would end up telling someone and once you've told someone you are pretty much done for if the TV is to be believed.

PollyBell · 07/10/2025 07:09

No because I am not a psychopath

AhBiscuits · 07/10/2025 07:11

It would need to be somewhere secluded like a forest and someone with zero connection to you. Random dog walker maybe. What's the point if you can't even take out your enemies?

Screwyoudavid · 07/10/2025 07:12

No too many ring door bells around - can't move without being caught on camera these days.

bluebettyy · 07/10/2025 07:12

No one is oh so special to get away with it. Most murderers are caught.
