In the wake of the tragic events that took place in Manchester, I want to implore people not to lose steam or, more importantly, hope.

Gaza is still facing destruction, famine and genocide.

We need to continue to peacefully pressure our government to take action and sanction the Israeli government and to educate and inform people about the horrors faced by the Palestinian people day in and day out for the last two years.

People who opposed the liberation of Palestine want for this to be a turning point. For people to point the finger at a movement that wants to see the end of the suffering of millions and label it as inciting hate.

It's not.
And it's important.

Please don't put down your passion for Gaza.

Nope.

SunnySideDeepDown · 03/10/2025 23:56

Uh, no.

weareallqueens · 03/10/2025 23:57

I hope so. People are being killed in huge numbers in Gaza and that can’t be forgotten.

DervlaGlass · 03/10/2025 23:58

I honestly think since COVID people crave a collective emotional derangement and this is the current one.

TheNewWasp · 03/10/2025 23:58

You are not going to win me over if in your message you blatantly dismiss any mentions to the victims of the Manchester attack.

There’s another thread running calling for no protests. No one is realistically do what either random OP mumsnetter asks anyway.

Respectfully, my intention isn't to win you over. Unless you're someone who was involved in campaigning for Gaza and is now feeling discouraged.

Totally agree!

No

You're losing support left, right and centre with the complete lack of empathy and insensitivity shown.

Ruby1985 · 04/10/2025 00:03

Yes do carry on! Some ignorant mumsnetters may not agree and who cares for their opinions, however I am glad the world is finally waking up to the despicable barbarism that is being inflicted on the people of Gaza!!

Empathy and sensitivity is what is driving the vast majority of people to speak out for Palestine.

I wonder how many keyboard enthusiasts actually get off their arses and leave their houses to protest.

Am Yisrael Chai.

And if they could just do that without displacing and murdering Palestinians the world would be a much happier place.

Are you saying you don’t think the attack is in any way linked to the raging antisemitism expressed in those campaigns?

HappyGolmore2 · 04/10/2025 00:07

We have the right to peaceful protest and freedom of speech, and everyone should feel free to express that, whatever their views.

Lightworks · 04/10/2025 00:08

No, I’ll be joining a peaceful march to commemorate the victims of the 7 October atrocities thanks.

When is that?

Bundleflower · 04/10/2025 00:09

I agree entirely. Yet further loss of life is utterly tragic. This is yet another needless loss of life of the situation.
I despair for human kind at the moment. How many deaths will this entire sordid affair lead to?

I think the attack was an act of anger. I think it was a clearly disturbed individual. I think it was harmful to a good cause.
I think the blame lies with the perpetrator.
Not with the people calling for an end to a formally recognised genocide.
