I’ve noticed I’ve got a favourite seat in the living room and it’s accumulated a few of my things on and around it like my handbag, sweets, book, medication (because it’s the only thing that helps me remember to take it) a couple of letters that I opened and haven’t put away yet and a pack of baby wipes.
Dh is watching the game just now and I’ve sat down in my spot and accidentally knocked my medication off the armrest. I turned to dh and said “ do you know what would be handy, a little table next to me so I can put all my bits and bobs on” 🤦🏻‍♀️ my life flashed before my eyes before the words finished leaving my mouth. I’m 41 by the way how has nobody told me about this monumental moment.

Wondering why babies go to school, and why police officers look like children. People referring to the 70s and 80s as the olden days. Being invisible to men, being patronised (‘oh bless’), people thinking they know a lot more than me despite having lived on the planet for half the time that I have, not being able to lift very heavy things any more, not being able to eat or drink as much as before, saying ‘ooh’ every time I sit down or get up.

This!! Especially being patronised, much younger people assuming they know better than me, joints aching, feeling tired earlier in the day. It's tough because I feel exactly the same in my head. I've just turned 60.

60!!! How did that happen?! One minute I'm a punk, a New Romantic, buying new clothes & makeup, now I'm 60!!

The plus side is I'm more confident, don't care what people think, and for the first time in my life I think about what I want before making decisions that affect me. Then do stuff that benefits me.

Was complaining about the one of the other teams being loud during the pub quiz. My husband said 'kids'. Never felt so old to be complaining about the 'yoof of today'.

My ex dating a 19 year old (I am 40 and he's 60 next month). We accidentally ran into each other in a social event and I felt absolutely ancient and irrelevant next to her. I know it is very shallow, but just could not help feeling bad about how flipping old and haggard I am.

Sorry what? A 59 year old is actually dating a 19 year old??????

Timeforabitofpeace · 07/11/2025 04:11

OP , mine is having the little table, and wanting a bigger one.

Me too, but often they are very slow growing and it could be a long time before anything needs to be done about them

There;s no fool like an old fool. Good luck to him when he starts to get decrepit and she skips off with half his assets to be with someone her own age. If it even lasts that long.

The crazy part is that he has no assets at all, only debts and an active bankruptcy.

I slipped over in the mud and, just for a moment, lay flat on my back with my eyes closed thinking "do I need to get used to this now?". I'm 56!

Don't worry too much, I'm 20 years older and still fall quite often. Usually because I try and dash around. Avoid mud at all costs as it tends to be slippery. Good luck.

blobby10 · 12/11/2025 13:45

@tommyhoundmum I took my walking poles out with me this morning whilst walking the dog and it definitely helped - can't really avoid mud round here if I want said dog to have a decent walk. What really annoyed me was that it wasn't even the most slippery spot Grin I'm sure it wont be the last such slip but hopefully I can continue to only slip over when no one else is around Grin

Yes, I usually go over in the dark on the common. The dog is used to it now.

Sounds like it wont make it to a wedding then.

I wonder what her family make of her being involved with a man old enough to be her grandfather! Presumably he is older than her parents.

Getting my Freedom Pass 😶
that has really mad me feel old 😡
I was so happy when I got the Over 60s Oyster. I thought Yay! free travel🥳.
I was even more annoyed when I read Freedom Pass T&Cs which say use 9:30-23:00... sorry but am I on a curfew at 66 🤬.
I'll be trying it out to see if that works in practice on the Night Tube 😇... hopefully receiving the state pension will put me in a better mood🤔
