I’ve noticed I’ve got a favourite seat in the living room and it’s accumulated a few of my things on and around it like my handbag, sweets, book, medication (because it’s the only thing that helps me remember to take it) a couple of letters that I opened and haven’t put away yet and a pack of baby wipes.
Dh is watching the game just now and I’ve sat down in my spot and accidentally knocked my medication off the armrest. I turned to dh and said “ do you know what would be handy, a little table next to me so I can put all my bits and bobs on” 🤦🏻‍♀️ my life flashed before my eyes before the words finished leaving my mouth. I’m 41 by the way how has nobody told me about this monumental moment.

Just my face every time I look in the mirror lol

I was a visitor yesterday at one of those places where you sign in on a touchscreen and it takes your picture for the badge. When I looked at the camera, I was startled to realise it was my Dad staring back at me.

Ha! I know the feeling. I am genuinely shocked when I see myself sometimes, especially when I first get up in the morning!

I get really stressed with passwords and log ons. I'll never change banks because I can't cope with figuring out a new log on process.

Nellieinthebarn · 19/09/2025 12:15

My fingers are no longer straight, I now have knobbly knuckles, and can point round corners. Just like my Nan's fingers used to be.

DancingLions · 19/09/2025 12:24

I've always liked cats but now I really really like cats! I have two and they are my constant companions. I no longer have any interest in men, just cats.

I need the "big light" on in the front room to do anything other than watch TV.

I'd much rather listen to the birds than music. Hate noisy restaurants and bars.

Rarely out past 8pm!

I'm embracing it. I enjoyed my youth, did my share of "wild" things. Peace is nice.

weebarra · 19/09/2025 12:32

I’m currently reading this with my glasses pushed up on my head so I can read the text.
I have aching joints.
I no longer have a child in primary school.
I’m 48 on Sunday

Yes re noise it's so weird, we were told we'd get deafer. I on the other hand find noises more intrusive. I had to leave a bar once when the band for Friday night started up. The base firing up gave me palpitations.

The absolute lack of patience I have with most adult men, particularly the mansplainers! I have several close male friends, the rest can pretty much go fuck themselves at this stage in my life!

Kitchen1234567 · 19/09/2025 17:21

Walking through town today with DH and a group of 3 youths were behind us, guffawing really loudly about some random youth speak stuff. I had to tell DH to go a different way as I couldn’t stand the noise. He told me I was turning into my mother. Then we went into M&S to “look at the bedding”.

So true! Tolerance for lectures given by men who know less than you is now zero. I used to at least pretend to find them interesting if I fancied them.

On the train this morning, person immediately in front (on a group of 4 seats) was watching tiktoks or reels (no headphones) person behind them had some annoying music on (i couldn't see if they had no headphones or shit "leaky" headphones) person on adjacent seat was having a conversation on speakerphone, and person
behind had a whingy toddler.I'd almost lost the will to live by the time I got to work! The only saving grace was no one loudly tapping on a keyboard
Tbf the toddler was by far the least annoying, and was cute.

Could you not play Mozart loudly until the twits got the message? 😅

This has made me laugh!!

The worst thing is, my DM is only 54!

DoraSpenlow · 20/09/2025 14:22

Yesterday. Get to the gym and start doing my warm-up on the treadmill. Think to myself that my feet don't feel right. Look down and horror. I've still got my slippers on! Luckily there was only one other person there so I was able to sneak them into my locker and then pretend I was doing a bare foot workout. Was painful walking across the car park back to the car though.

Fasten it at the front then twist it round and put your arms in!

In the last few weeks, I’ve been experiencing pain in my arm / shoulder when I put my arm behind my back and try to raise it high enough to do or undo my bra strap. Another ache to add to all my post- menopausal pains.

Then I clicked I could do my bra the way described and felt so proud of myself for my innovation.

Now I can see you’ve been doing it that way for years - so much for me being innovative! 😆

I have reading glasses scattered all over the house, and recently tried putting one pair on top of the ones I was already wearing 🫣

I’ve done that! 😆😆

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 20/09/2025 15:22

My husband carrying a full basket of wet laundry outside to hang it. The sun has come out and it's rather bright.

"Now where are my sunglasses?" looks at me

I'm staring at him.

"I'm wearing them, aren't I?"

I start smiling.

They're either on his head or he's looking through them. This time he was looking through them 😂

Random aches and pains, not being able to walk as fast for an extended period of time, making peace with being single and planning for retirement as a single person, preferring to stay home, actually sticking to personal boundaries, greater emotional resilience and more awareness of covert arseholes, embracing being make up/barefaced look and dressing for comfort.

Kitchen1234567 · 20/09/2025 17:18

went to order a Chinese on an app for later tonight. Could only see time 1210 at the time. Couldn’t figure out how to get for 1900 so rang said Chinese to check app was working. Imagine my embarrassment when he said I needed to click on the time and scroll to what I wanted.

I'm considering becoming a two vacuum house. When MIL became older I noticed she kept a small vacuum in the box room to save lugging the main one up and down stairs. Upstairs never gets as bad so it makes sense.

Another genius idea.

Not that I do any hoovering...

Taking a picture of a label so that o can zoom in to read it. It

I've started doing that too 😭😁
Also just realised it's bloody hard bending down as easily now. Got down on my knees to give the floor a mini scrub the other day and thought "jeez, ok, this is uncomfortable" and "how the heck am I gonna get back up?!" 😁

I've returned to this thread to tell you that I have been to three (different) garden centres in the last few weeks, for a "look around" and cake

JacknDiane · 29/09/2025 20:46

You can't beat a garden centre

Kitchen1234567 · 02/10/2025 21:51

Today I was at Waitrose and found myself thinking the QR code on screen was the scanner and tried to scan my dad’s peanuts on it. I did laugh at myself
