I’ve noticed I’ve got a favourite seat in the living room and it’s accumulated a few of my things on and around it like my handbag, sweets, book, medication (because it’s the only thing that helps me remember to take it) a couple of letters that I opened and haven’t put away yet and a pack of baby wipes.
Dh is watching the game just now and I’ve sat down in my spot and accidentally knocked my medication off the armrest. I turned to dh and said “ do you know what would be handy, a little table next to me so I can put all my bits and bobs on” 🤦🏻‍♀️ my life flashed before my eyes before the words finished leaving my mouth. I’m 41 by the way how has nobody told me about this monumental moment.

I do all of these bar the loaf cakes. I'm 39😅

I do none of these and I'm over 60!

My teenager was stroking a dog on the field and said she had a dog of the same breed and the owner said “oh is that the elderly lady who walks all three of them “
I am 51

If I forget my glasses I have to take a photo of the menu board ( costa I’m talking to you ) and zoom in on my phone to choose what I want and look at prices

Matsukaze · 16/09/2025 01:13

Watched the original Gladiators series when it came out and now when I watch the reboots realise that I am old enough to be some of the Gladiators' and contenders' mum

Osteoarthritus and not being able to walk more than 5 mins before having to sit down

When it started to rain I thought "oh that'll do the plants a lot of good".

One of my markers was seeing it was a lovely warm, breezy day and deciding to strip the bed and wash all the towels! I recall sneering at my Mother for doing that, sorry Mum!

Hopingtobeaparent · 16/09/2025 07:56

My body changed when turning 43 (45 now). Skin lost its elasticity, I’m losing my flexibility and I am getting stiff knees!

I have this amazing side table for all my essentials and the best part is there are two plug sockets and two USB outlets inside which is so handy to plug different things in. I can charge my phone, plug in my mini menopause fan, hobby light, nail lamp and all sorts of other things. And the lid closes to hide my mess!

Other things that make me feel old are my constantly aching joints, wishing I could take early retirement (I'm only 50 and can't afford it!), can't see without my glasses any more even on a night out..... and so many more!

Amazing ive now ordered one off amazon
what a fantastic idea to organise all my old lady bits 😂😁🙌

blobby10 · 16/09/2025 09:14

Other people have mentioned all mine except this one - since turning 40 I haven't been able to bear the wind blowing around my ears in the cooler months so nearly always find myself wearing a hood or hat! Mum I'm so sorry that as a teen/20 something I used to laugh at you for always wearing a headscarf or hat pulled down over your ears.

monkeymamma · 16/09/2025 09:17

I just upgraded to a phone with face recognition and feel the need to ‘pull a funny face’ when it’s using the face recognition thingy, I guess so that the phone ‘doesn’t get bored’. It’s just made me realise I’m fundamentally unsuited to a world run by machines and belong in a bygone era.

Driving to the leisure centre for my first swim in years this morning.
I had the thought “going for a swim at 7.45 when it’s nice and quiet is quite a middle-aged-lady thing to do isn’t it”.
Lo and behold, I arrived and was the youngest there by a good 20 years. Seems I have skipped middle age and gone straight to geriatric.

FriNightBlues · 16/09/2025 09:38

Spent a weekend in an Air BnB recently. First thought after we’d made a drink was “Ooh, do they have coasters?”

I shall continue to use colons, full stops, commas, question marks and paragraphs. So that I'm easily understood . If anyone is offended that is their problem.

Oh don't get me started. When our DDs got their first mobiles I refused to respond to any nonsense bloody txt spk. They soon learned to send messages with correct SPAG and still do to this day.

I was recently told that using full stops and question marks is too assertive and people feel pressured. I replied 'I don't care'. And I absolutely don't.

Has anyone else noticed WhatsApp has become terrible at correcting 'i' to 'I' and putting in apostrophes over the last couple of years? It's a real ballache and I am sure it used to do it alongside auto correcting "duck". Have they fully given up on grammar?

Taking a picture of a label so that o can zoom in to read it. It

This!

GiantYorkshirePud · 16/09/2025 12:22

My elbow has started creaking loudly when I put my baby in her cot. I’m 32.

Verv · 16/09/2025 12:31

I also take photos of labels so i can zoom to read, or use the magnifier on my phone.
Varifocals.
I now eat more tums/rennies than food probably.
Ive lost weight, which is great, but im starting to see wattle wrinkles rather than my jawline of old.
i have caught myself "oof"-ing when getting out of a low sofa.
i like my underwear to come up to my waistband now, or beyond if its cold 😂

Asking my GP how old his little boy was. I said I thought he must be three now, and he said that he was coming up to three, and that his eldest was eight. I said, " I didn't know you had an older child as you look to young!". As soon as you tell police officers and doctors that they look too young, you know you are officially old!

Yep, I couldn't believe how young my physio looked.

It's The Times for me. I vaguely scan through the news as a token gesture then focus on the entire point of buying it - the puzzles 😀

People get far too offended these days about everything.

Mine was realising I have to now take my glasses off to be able to read things close up. I didn't realise that not being able to focus close up happens to pretty much every one with age, I'm scared I might have to get varifocals! I'm 43!

Im 47 and I think i could probably do with varifocals but im not ready - that's what my mum and dad wore! 🤣
Weirdly on my morning commute to work I can read the paper/look at my phone with my normal (-2.5) distance glasses on....but after a day at work, not wearing glasses, its impossible on the way home.

My im so old moment was when I thought the minibus driver on holiday looked and behavedlike a stroppy 15 year old!

Every time some new 'fad' hits social media, full stops 'etiquette' for example, it seems that the whole world is expected to fall in line with the self-appointed policing warriors, otherwise one is being offensive or even an 'ism'. I don't care what they think, I am not stopping being correct just to appease the bullies.
