I’ve noticed I’ve got a favourite seat in the living room and it’s accumulated a few of my things on and around it like my handbag, sweets, book, medication (because it’s the only thing that helps me remember to take it) a couple of letters that I opened and haven’t put away yet and a pack of baby wipes.
Dh is watching the game just now and I’ve sat down in my spot and accidentally knocked my medication off the armrest. I turned to dh and said “ do you know what would be handy, a little table next to me so I can put all my bits and bobs on” 🤦🏻‍♀️ my life flashed before my eyes before the words finished leaving my mouth. I’m 41 by the way how has nobody told me about this monumental moment.

I love the look of these! But why on earth are Myleene Klass and Jamie Redknapp advertising them? They're not exactly the target market, I wouldn't think!

Well they are both older than me 😆 mine look fairly trendy ish I think. Or at least passable.

LouiseK93 · 16/09/2025 20:40

That's just fucking rude.

Oh for fucky fucksake. Posting earlier in the evening and forgetting all about it, and posting nearly the exact same thing 4 hours later. Arse. Sorry.

Given the subject of the thread, that’s so funny 🤣

CharlotteCChapel · 16/09/2025 20:51

I can't do up my back fastening bras, I'll be replacing them with either front fastening or a pull over one.

My eldest grandson is chosing his GCSE subjects.

Taking a picture of a label so that o can zoom in to read it. It

I do this too 😅 but I'm convinced that the writing is getting smaller and it's not my eyes 😂.
I put reminders on my phone for everything and have bit of trouble remembering names now 😬. Recently I couldn't remember the word reservoir 🤭

I have never been able to do that. I have always done them up at the front and turning it the right way round!

Same. But neither have I ever been able to tie a bow behind me (dress ties)! DH has to do it.

I can tie my own shoelaces though, so not entirely helpless/incompetent 🌞

When the Primeminister is younger than you, being at a Quiz, and not having a clue about pop stars, most film stars, and many other things about this century (if it was 60's,70's, 80's questions, I'd be in my element !), dropping things more than ever, going to bed at 8.30pm (and looking forward to doing so), not giving a hoot about world events (the world has been in 'troubled times' all the time I've been alive !), though at the age of 64, I'm not quite at the going to a supermarket in my slippers stage (just yet !)..........😏

Mine was realising I have to now take my glasses off to be able to read things close up. I didn't realise that not being able to focus close up happens to pretty much every one with age, I'm scared I might have to get varifocals! I'm 43!

I have varifocals and I still take them off to read very small/close things!

cornflakecrunchie · 17/09/2025 15:22

@KTMeetsTheRsUptown I have trouble remembering words too, 'big thing, warns shipping' is a standing joke in our house after I forgot what a lighthouse was called..

DoraSpenlow · 17/09/2025 19:50

It happened for me during Covid. Was getting ready to go shopping just after 8 in the morning and I said to my husband that I couldn't go yet as the early slot was reserved for pensioners. Then I remembered that I was one. Depressing.

But then when restrictions were lifted we went to the US and rode Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica on a Harley Davidson, so I felt we weren't past it after all.😀

I have come to the sobering realisation that I can either go out for the day or I can go out for the evening, but I cannot possibly do both. Or if I absolutely have to then the following day has to be a designated rest day.

Gladysknightgottogetaholdofmyself · 17/09/2025 22:14

We have become morning people out early into town do what we need to.
Tea, coffee cake home before 2.

And never two nights out in a row. That takes a week of quiet time to recover from.

Discussed hand luggage for the airport for my DM who is going on holiday. Recommended she take a rucksack (as i do) because "a handbag puts strain on one shoulder"

Eastofnowhere · 17/09/2025 23:10

My new partner is nearly 50. It is not an inappropriate age gap in any way, shape or form. Which means I'm old enough to be dating someone who's nearly 50. Which means I'm a lot closer to 50 than I care to admit.

garlictwist · 18/09/2025 04:34

I went to a downhill mountain bike race at the weekend and there was an 82 year old woman taking part. I was so impressed. She had to lie her bike down at the end to get off rather than swing her leg over but other than that - wow! I wondered what age she’d taken it up.

I don't eat fast food anymore but I'm really fancied a Burger King last week. I was feeling l a bit smug that I had actually downloaded the app and could take advantage of a discounted burger.

It occurred to me that I had no idea whatsoever how to do this via the drive through so went in. Asked at the counter about scanning the code. A lovely teen looked at her comrades for sympathy, came around and helped me navigate the touch screen. She used the same tone that I help my 80 year old mum with.

I had exactly this! Went to McDonalds and walked up to the counter to order. The teenager behind the counter looked at me greatly amused and pointed me to the touch screen. I stood for a while in front of it, utterly lost.

blobby10 · 18/09/2025 10:41

@Clafoutie @Selflessness I had this on holiday where they have installed meters on electric hook ups for my caravan. I had to download the app then connect my pitch so I could see what electric I was using. I had to go back to the reception 3 times, got the lovely young lady to download it and set it up for me, even after I'd put my glasses on(!) but it still wouldn't work. Turns out I'd plugged my hook up into the wrong plug on the pitch - in my defence they weren't labelled and even the nice man from maintenance said it was easily done but I did feel stupid!! Even more stupid when I realised that the total electricity I used for my 8 day holiday was less than the daily allowance Grin

I’m wearing newly purchased Skechers slippers and have never been happier. I’m also currently looking for a new vacuum which is easier to carry upstairs and quite frankly it’s exciting stuff. Dread to think how my excitement levels will be when I’ve ordered one and it is due to arrive.
