To think ‘most people’ don’t get their windows cleaned this often?

Disagreement in our house today. Do ‘most people’ (which after some discussion was pinned down to people in 30s/40s in eg 3 bed semi with a kid or two 😅) have their windows cleaned every 6-8 weeks?

YABU - of course they do
YANBU - definitely not ‘most’

Me too

And me and I clean the insides every couple of weeks.

Serpentstooth · 08/09/2025 18:32

No idea what most people do. I live on a main road and my windows are filthy even though cleaned every 4 weeks. 2 weeks would be better but I don't want to spend £30 a month on window cleaning.

naiveandrestles · 08/09/2025 18:33

Monthly. It was fortnightly but I realised that was too much.

I want to stop the monthly as well tbh (I dont see the point) but it's £2 a month and I feel bad because lots of people have cancelled him.

Chobby · 08/09/2025 18:33

Ours are done monthly by a window cleaner.

AInightingale · 08/09/2025 18:33

On this topic, I cancelled my window cleaner about five months ago to save money, and it stopped, but I got home today to realise that he or someone who works for him had cleaned them and put the payment chit through the door! I don't have to pay, do I?

endofthecorridoor · 08/09/2025 18:34

Once a month now but when money was tight we did our own

Dogaredabomb · 08/09/2025 18:34

NuovaPilbeam · 08/09/2025 18:15

The only time i asked a window cleaner to quote i did notice he was crafty insisting there was no option for a one off clean, it was sign up for an unnecessarily regular clean or get nothing.

I went for nothing.

Threads like these make me realise why I've got more money than most people, they are all pissing it away on window cleaners every two weeks and nails every 3, highlighs every 6 weeks, replacing all their pillows every 2 years and mattresses every 5 etc!

But my window cleaner is £10pm 🤷🏼‍♂️

SardineJam · 08/09/2025 18:34

Ours are every 2 to 3 months

Snozwanger · 08/09/2025 18:35

We reduced frequency from 6 weeks to 8 weeks to save some cash as a compromise from ditching the windowcleaner altogether. I know lots of people who don't have one though. It's the sort of thing you don't notice if you've never had one.

Comtesse · 08/09/2025 18:35

I am 50 and have never paid to have windows cleaned. I have lived in flats in London for 30 years.

Delatron · 08/09/2025 18:36

Paquitavariation · 08/09/2025 18:13

Mine haven’t been washed for about 10 years, and they look no different than anyone else’s.

Yep I find it bizarre that people pay for this every month. Maybe it’s like the Emperor’s New Clothes..

Rosscameasdoody · 08/09/2025 18:36

Once a month.

Woahtherehoney · 08/09/2025 18:38

we have a window cleaner who comes round every 4-6 weeks so yes we do! If they really don’t need it I’ll cancel him but we have patio doors at the back and so I do like them to get cleaned regularly

imsotiredohsotired · 08/09/2025 18:38

It costs £50. They only get done every 16 weeks.

onedogatoddlerandababy · 08/09/2025 18:38

My window cleaner comes every 10 weeks.

he’s been doing them for the last 6 years.

prior to that I never bothered once in 15 years 😂

TimetoGetUpNow · 08/09/2025 18:38

Monthly

It used to be every 8 weeks I think, but we moved and we are opposite big trees and the windows get filthy.

Our window cleaners have not increased their prices since I started with them 11 years ago! I think the price was less if you had them more often so that could be why. But I’m not rocking that boat.

Inside = when I deep clean a room, or get fed up with imprints of cat noses. So varies by room. Annually some, probably every couple of months for kitchen.

Serpentstooth · 08/09/2025 18:39

Poor window cleaners, didn't realise it's become a luxury. I wish all the out of work window cleaners would take up hedge-trimming. Local hedge cutter has moved to the coast and we need a new one. Hard to find.

Delatron · 08/09/2025 18:40

I definitely don’t think any windows need cleaning every month - that is what window cleaners tell you so they earn money. Any window cleaners do once a year (which is more than sufficient?) Didn’t think so…

Fleetheart · 08/09/2025 18:40

bigblueboots · 08/09/2025 18:12

This is the relatable content I’m here for! Anyone else just not have a window cleaner…?

if you don’t have a window cleaner it’s ok for a bit, but then after a year or two you realise that you are not getting as much light in the house

Luxio · 08/09/2025 18:41

Dogaredabomb · 08/09/2025 18:34

But my window cleaner is £10pm 🤷🏼‍♂️

To be fair that's still £120 a year which is quite a chunk of money.

amibeingaknob · 08/09/2025 18:41

Ive lived here 1.5 years. Ive never done inside or out. They seem fine to me but them Im a messy bugger.

LavenderBlue19 · 08/09/2025 18:42

Every three months. They definitely need a clean by the time they come again, but I'm buggered off I'm paying for more!

I do the insides maybe twice a year, or ask the cleaner to.

RedRiverShore5 · 08/09/2025 18:43

We used to have a window cleaner but it was a bit of a pain with the locked back gate so DH bought poles of Amazon to do it

DoAWheelie · 08/09/2025 18:44

Mine is every 4 weeks but I don't get a say in it. It's a flat in a building with 18 other flats. It's owned by a housing association and the monthly service charge goes towards a weekly clean of the halls, windows every 4 weeks, and lawn mowing/garden maintenance every 2-3 months as needed.

MummaMummaMumma · 08/09/2025 18:46

Errr I've never had a window cleaner
