To think ‘most people’ don’t get their windows cleaned this often?

Disagreement in our house today. Do ‘most people’ (which after some discussion was pinned down to people in 30s/40s in eg 3 bed semi with a kid or two 😅) have their windows cleaned every 6-8 weeks?

YABU - of course they do
YANBU - definitely not ‘most’

The local window cleaner does a 6 week cycle. I found it too frequent so cancelled and now they never get done! Wish there was an option for quarterly...

Must be a very large building?

No just a basic 3 bed semi, conservatory on the back and 2 front doors and 2 back doors

All the window cleaners we have had in the past have taken around the same ish time and charged around the same ish.

Oh dear lord. My mother gets hers done every four weeks (but she's got a soft spot for him 😂) I've had a window cleaner once in 21 years; he charged me £8 for FOUR windows. I flounced.
Now, my mother sometimes cleans the outside of them when she visits, and is horrified by the filth; so maybe 3-4 times a year. I have proudly only cleaned them twice.
I'm not such a slattern for the inside, I will add.

So I'm assuming that it's the conservatory that's taking up most of the time and money?

I have an end-terraced 3 bedroom house with an additional sitting room and 3 doors.

No I dont think so, he charges friends about the same I think, its just his price.

The window cleaners we've had over tyhe years are more or less the same before and after we had the conservatory.

Thinking about it, one part of the conservatory is the same expanse of glass as the back door which is now inside the house and the kitchen window which is now in the house, so the only additional about the conservatory is about 3 long panes.

Our company uses a team of window cleaners who do all their customers in the same street on the same day. The job is done very quickly - the windows are cleaned properly - and they take nine pounds. counts 11 windows and three doors.

Usually, one does the front the same time as the other does the back.

Im amazed these plethora of staff are being paid enough?

We also need someone who can do a Saturday as we're not here in the week to let him through to the back. A lot of these companies want to turn up when its convenient to them but not to me.

They do the job very quickly indeed - and it's done properly. They only do the windows in doors, not the whole door (if you know what I mean). I think it's the case that pensioners get a pound cheaper than everyone else.

They put a card through the door with the date and price and I pay them via electronic banking.

I'm told that the various window cleaning companies in the area have a gentlemen's agreement as to where they're allowed to clean. (For example, our company doesn't touch the parallel street.)

That way, they get through enough houses in the same area quickly enough to make a good living.

ETA They come at a time of their choosing - they can access the back via the side return.
