To think ‘most people’ don’t get their windows cleaned this often?

Disagreement in our house today. Do ‘most people’ (which after some discussion was pinned down to people in 30s/40s in eg 3 bed semi with a kid or two 😅) have their windows cleaned every 6-8 weeks?

YABU - of course they do
YANBU - definitely not ‘most’

Ours are done monthly on the outside.
Inside… maybe once a year Blush

OriginalUsername2 · 02/02/2026 18:33

I do mine once when the weather warms up (bungalow). The insides are done when I notice they look dirty - maybe two or three times a year.

TruJay · 02/02/2026 18:37

Our windows were installed new by us about 14 years ago, we had them cleaned professionally for the first time at the end of last year! Dh has done the downstairs ones perhaps twice during that time too. No window cleaner we contacted would ever get back to us and before we knew it, 14 years had passed! They looked lovely when I returned home, like embarrassingly clean and shiny haha. I think we agreed to bi-monthly going forward during warmer months and twice through winter.

Bryonyberries · 02/02/2026 18:39

Monthly in summer, 8-12 weeks in winter. I just get a text telling me he’s in the area in winter and do I want them done.

RobinEllacotStrike · 02/02/2026 18:39

I have no idea about most people.

mine are cleaned every 6-8 weeks.

im 58. 3 level house.

maddiemookins16mum · 02/02/2026 18:41

DH does ours as and when needed. Never had a window cleaner.

Allseeingallknowing · 02/02/2026 19:20

Sometimes a man with a wet rag on the end of a long pole will wave it over a neighbour’s upstairs windows. They must look all smeary from inside. Our windows, like in many newer houses, have extenders on the upstairs ones, allowing us to reach the outsides and clean the frames as well, but not many seem to realise they can do this, or maybe they realise and can’t be bothered!

jamnpancakes · 02/02/2026 23:55

Mine is coming tomorrow 👍🏿

This is the relatable content I’m here for! Anyone else just not have a window cleaner…?

No window cleaner here. I wash mine maybe once a year... Or once every 2 years 👏

every eight weeks, costs £35 so wouldn't want it more often than that but do like a clean window. :)

Iocanepowder · 03/02/2026 06:41

Bought our house 6 years ago and never had the windows cleaned.

Cleaner for the inside of our house is much a priority for us.

bumphousebump · 03/02/2026 08:08

Every 6 weeks I think, he’s a little random but quite nice. Pay by bank transfer. Inside probably cleaned them 3 times in the 6 years I’ve lived here. There’s a point in the year when the sun comes at an angle that makes it really noticeable they need doing, if I hold my nerve that soon passes….

CosyNavyLeader · 05/02/2026 17:11

I have mine done quarterly

sneezysbonnet · 06/02/2026 06:11

winnieanddaisy · 27/01/2026 21:11

4 bed detached here and windows are cleaned every month . He even washes our front door . The cost has just gone up to £12 .

You are getting a bargain.

2 bed bung here that gets windows cleaned once a month = £8.

I refuse to have them done more frequently because we live near the sea and they get crusted with salt spray.

RNJ3007 · 24/03/2026 18:41

3 bed end of terrace, in London, ours get done every 8 weeks, just went up to £10 the start of the year (front, back, side, porch and doors!) and I’m 40.

OrangeStrip · 24/03/2026 19:01

I don't understand how people are paying so little. Ours cost £120 and it's 2-3 hour job.

How many windows do you have?!

gina9757 · 24/03/2026 19:26

Ours get done every other month so around 8 weeks, our neighbours are on the same rotation.

Is that you Camilla?

FuchsiaFlingo · 24/03/2026 20:00

We have a monthly window cleaner.. £8

FuchsiaFlingo · 24/03/2026 20:00

Also 5 bed with a sunroom

JustMarriedBecca · 24/03/2026 20:00

When it's sunny and I think "oh shit, they look a state". Which is about once a year.

blankcanvas3 · 24/03/2026 20:02

Once a month, think it costs about £50. I like clean windows

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 24/03/2026 20:03

Was thinking since the sun re-emerged that they look a bit dirty so should probably get them done. Last time was 18 months / 2 years ago.
