Upset about new top

BykeP · 06/09/2025 13:57

I bought what I thought was a lovely new top, it’s black, fluffy and sleeveless. DH thinks I look like Betty Rubble from the Flintstones and keeps saying Yabba Dabba Do every time I enter the room.

I don’t think this is funny but he won’t stop laughing. I said he is offending me and I find his comments hurtful but he said it’s too funny to stop.

I refuse to change my top but I think he is unreasonable? I can’t listen to Yabba Dabba Do anymore or be called Betty

OP posts:

Let’s see a pic of the top ?

Fatiguedwithlife · 06/09/2025 14:00

That made me chuckle.
let’s see it?

CalzoneOnLegs · 06/09/2025 14:01

Betty rubble wears a blue dress though

ForZanyAquaViewer · 06/09/2025 14:01

I’d think it was funny. However, if you’ve asked him to stop, then he ought to stop.

PrincessofWells · 06/09/2025 14:02

We need a photo Op . . .

CalmlyOscarcalmly · 06/09/2025 14:02

I think we might be married to the same man.

GeorgeClooneyshouldhavemarriedme · 06/09/2025 14:03

Hands up everyone who just googled Betty Rubble!

Userengage · 06/09/2025 14:03

Kind of funny. Are you really offended and hurt or just annoyed at his (funny) stupidity?

CalmlyOscarcalmly · 06/09/2025 14:03

Also, you’re not upset about your new top - you’re upset about your husband being a bit of an arse.
Luckily mine isn’t an arse all the time

thisoldcity · 06/09/2025 14:04

That sounds a bit like my dh's sense of humour as well, though he wouldn't repeat a joke like that. He once told me Coco the Clown had been on the phone and wanted his trousers back when I wore a rather lovely pair of wide legged brightly coloured trousers. I didn't wear them again as his comment completely ruined them for me, so I know how you feel.

ToKittyornottoKitty · 06/09/2025 14:04

Depends what the top looks like really. Let’s see it!

CalzoneOnLegs · 06/09/2025 14:05

@thisoldcity i 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 hilarious

GreyCarpet · 06/09/2025 14:06

Betty Rubble was cute.

I know a fair few men who admit they had a childhood crush on Betty Rubble 😉

CalzoneOnLegs · 06/09/2025 14:05

@thisoldcity i 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 hilarious

Why would you post laughing emojis when someone has posted about something that hurt them?

CopperWhite · 06/09/2025 14:08

We’re going to need to se the top, because Betty wore a blue dress not a black one so what’s he on about?

CalzoneOnLegs · 06/09/2025 14:08

@TimClaypole because it made me laugh ? The husbands comment that is not the OP’s distress - glad we cleared that up

HelpMeGetThrough · 06/09/2025 14:09

Change your name to Wilma?

HelloGreen · 06/09/2025 14:09

I don’t get all women who put up with men who shit on them.

If only one of you is laughing then it’s not a joke.

SliceofTosst · 06/09/2025 14:09

Sorry OP but it's funny. What isn't funny though is him repeating it.

If I liked a top and DH jokes, I'd not care what he thought. Just style it out.

Dorb · 06/09/2025 14:10

You made me laugh OP! But we do need to see the offending article…

WFHforevermore · 06/09/2025 14:19

My DH calls me beetlejiuce or the hamburlger whenever i wear stripes, i just ignore him!!

I used to wear a far more quirky wardrobe before I had DS.
Now whenever I like something loud, DH says “crazy cat lady”

Purplecatshopaholic · 06/09/2025 14:32

Sounds a bit like my OH. If I wear a little bit of animal print he starts asking me for a pint of bitter. Thinks it’s hilarious. I’ve never watched Coronation Street so didn’t get it but I know the character he means. Gets very tiresome!

maxisback · 06/09/2025 14:34

He sounds like a right catch
