Couple having sex in front of window

doremifaso · 31/08/2025 10:05

My children’s bedrooms looks out toward a house in the distance that has a bedroom in which looks like a converted loft. They have big floor to ceiling windows and NO curtains.
We were told by my neighbour once that he saw the occupiers there having sex in full view in front of the window - this was during an afternoon.
My husband also witnessed their act just last night when settling the kids to bed. It’s not hard to miss because their light is on and they’re BIG windows. My husband said he saw a lot of detail.
Not to sound prude but I’m really concerned about my children one day seeing them doing it. I have both sons and a daughter and don’t really want to expose them to sex in this way.

I’ve been told I don’t really have much right to complain because it’s within their own home but I am thinking of writing a letter to politely ask if they would be able to get some blinds or curtains installed.
If they ignore it, is there anything else I could do?
What would you do?

I doubt your kids will be looking at a house 'in the distance' from their bedroom window at exactly the time the occupants are having sex. Your neighbour and husband just got lucky :-).

Leave it alone, they aren't hurting you and probably have no idea they can be seen. It wouldn't occur to me that anybody would voyeur into my windows, I have no idea what my neighbours do and if I did by chance see or hear anything, I'd just move on.

But I did ask you to elaborate in the first instance, and you did.

You’ve got that silly face again haven’t you.

No, you didn’t. You asked me to “enlighten” you.

But since you’re keen to reply to me, could you answer the question I put: are you saying that people shouldn’t find humour in this story, as it’s been written by the OP?

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 31/08/2025 14:56

Seeing someone shagging in an open window - even if it is a loft window - is one of those things that is not only perfectly possible, but it is definitely possible. The OP and her family are seeing it. Are you saying she is lying?

No, the OP has not seen it, nor has her family. From what I understand, n.y the DH has and some random neighbour. (Unless I'm reading the OP wrong - always possible!)

EarthlyNightshade · 31/08/2025 14:56

SerendipityJane · 31/08/2025 14:52

Why ? Have the unshy couple in question any children ?

Do you think that you have to be having sex in front of your own children for something to be a safeguarding issue?

How about Uranus ?

Can be seen on a clear night but OPs husband can see it on Only Fans

Just because they are physically in their own home doesn’t make it acceptable to show the public what they are doing, and it sounds as though they are getting a thrill out of it. Huge windows, no curtains and leaving the lights on? Honestly, why are people’s standards so low these days that they think this is ok? It’s horrible for others to see, and especially children.
I would write to them first and tell them to get some bloody curtains!

It wouldn't occur to you if you had sex against big floor to ceiling, no curtained windows, with the lights on, and houses that face said windows, that someone would see you shagging? Really?

Well, I mean, if you want to get mardy. you knew exactly what I meant about the word enlighten because you answered me and now you want to retract that understanding?

Whether or not this post is real or fictional, I don’t find it humorous. I don’t think the possibility of children seeing a couple shag is a good thing. And I hate Benny Hill type humour and you jumped on it when the rest of the posters ignored it because, you know, ‘shrug’. It seemed to hit a chord with you though and only you can say why.

I don’t give Jack shit about you personally so why should my opinion of your sense of humour matter to you?

Had you considered blinds for your house? I’d tell you to stop looking through my windows if that letter appeared on my doorstep, or even forward to the police: peeping toms! Are you in a newbuild by chance? They are often very clumsily squished into landscapes in my opinion.

Edited

You'd go to the police for their cooperation in defending your right to have sex regularly with your partner where little children can see?

That's not something I have ever thought to do!

deckchairmayhem · 31/08/2025 15:11

They know exactly what theyre doing.
It's not OK to have sex in front of other people's kids.
Definetly escalate this, tactfully of course.

Not prudish. They have a total lack of consideration for neighbours - especially children. THEY need the curtains! They should've bought a house in the middle of nowhere to get their rocks off to their hearts content - with no curtains.
Public displays of nudity is an ASBO let alone full on sex. You could call Police non emergency 101, and ask - you will not be the only ones to be rightly concerned.

Haha! Yes, you have completely understood me. And I am most certainly ‘made up’ and am actually a robot typing this answer.

Could you be any more ridiculous. 😀

Just because I don’t like Benny Hill humour (which is the only humour worth a giggle apparently).

EarthlyNightshade · 31/08/2025 14:56

I don't think you understand safeguarding. That's what I think.

MyDeftDuck · 31/08/2025 15:17

You might consider a quiet word with them as they might not realise just how much people can see……perhaps they think, because it’s an upper floor that no one can observe them. Do they not realise that someone could actually be covertly filming them to use against them? There are some really powerful lenses available so capturing all their bedroom action would be so easy with the right equipment.
Also point out that your prime concern is the fact that your own children might see them.

If you found out your shagging was in full view of a child's bedroom you wouldn't stop shagging in front of your floor to ceiliing curtainless windows?

There's a word for someone who knowingly has sex in potential view of children

rainingsnoring · 31/08/2025 15:18

They sound like a pair of exhibitionists who are deliberately having sex in full view of others. I don't think this is any different to a man or woman standing at the large, visible window with lights on pleasuring themselves alone in full view of everyone. I expect the reactions would be different though.

Bryan Cranston Mic Drop GIF

😂

sundayfundayclub · 31/08/2025 15:19

We had this in a flat share once, our living room faced their bedroom. It was a summer evening so windows were open and we couldn't help but piss ourselves laughing. I don't think it was intentional judging by how they stopped & the curtains were never left open again 😆😆

MovingOn2025 · 31/08/2025 15:20

Firstly, id go and have a word. As excruciatingly embarrassing as it will be. If they wont stop, id Take a photo, blur the faces and pop it on your local spotted fb page to publicly shame them! Alternatively, ask the police for advice to see if they can speak to them as its in full view of young kids, surely theres some law there even if its in their own home. You could also get the deck chairs out and a 15 pack of eggs and start lobbing them at the window whilst theyre mid shag 🤷🏻‍♀️🤭 that would piss them off and put a stop to it!

sundayfundayclub · 31/08/2025 15:23

Some of these posts are classic contrary MNs!

I’d tell you to stop looking through my windows if that letter appeared on my doorstep, or even forward to the police: peeping toms!

Close your curtains you weirdo!

Give them anonymous marks out 10 posted through the letterbox for their performance, along the lines of:
"6/10 for yesterday evening's sexual antics... we felt that he could try to ensure that she climaxes first, and she should be aware that he's likely to get cramp if he he has to maintain that position for too long"

Edited

This appeals to my sense of humour 😂👏👏👏 Best comment IMHO

Does make me wonder whether they believe they've had privacy film fitted, which has been missed - is often a requirement on developments with large windows that are overlooked/ overlooking.

doremifaso · 31/08/2025 13:47

It’s been resolved now and I thank everyone who agreed that it’s not acceptable at all. To those who even considered it to be (given children were in the equation) either don’t have kids themselves or if they do, don’t give two about them!
Also says a lot about one’s character when defending such action.

Exactly. I don't know who all these posters are who have no issues with children seeing people have sex, but I wouldn't want them anywhere near my children that's for sure!

How was it resolved?

Can be seen on a clear night but OPs husband can see it on Only Fans

:-). that is brilliant!

Seriously, I doubt very much this couple are intentionally having sex publicly. They probably have no idea they can be seen and would be embarrassed if they knew.

Herewegoagainandagainandagain · 31/08/2025 15:23

Absolutely DO NOT put their photo on facebook, faces blurred or not!!!

@MovingOn2025 awful advice, that would be a criminal act.
