To think this is not abscene…but fairly normal?!

I have moved house and I finally have a walk in wardrobe. I’ve decided to hang everything except trousers. Friend said this was an obscene amount of clothing and laughed so much. I think it’s not that crazy 😅 what do you think obscene or normal? 🤣 this is just the top section, next section over is dresses and coats etc.

As that’s just your tops I think it is a huge amount. I wouldn’t call it obscene though.

I probably have about 1/3 that amount and I think that I have more than enough. If I had more storage space I can imagine that I would easily gradually fill it, but I wouldn’t need more clothes

LoztWorld · 10/08/2025 20:23

Not obscene but I would expect someone who has this many tops to be really into style/fashion and I don’t think you are given that it’s all the same (correct me if I’m wrong).

WHY do you have so many tops? Is it just to cut down on how often you do washing?

People I know with lots of clothes - including me - it’s because they like putting together interesting outfits usually.

Zempy · 10/08/2025 20:25

I have about ten times that amount 🫣

ALunchbox · 10/08/2025 20:25

It's a lot in my eyes. I aim to have all of my clothes fit in this volume.

Ouch!

AlertCat · 10/08/2025 20:26

Now I want a walk-in wardrobe. I know I have too many clothes as every so often I surprise myself by finding something I’d forgotten about. But seeing everything like that would be lovely!

Greensnow · 10/08/2025 20:27

Do they get very dusty, if they have no doors?

Canimovetoalnwick · 10/08/2025 20:27

Obviously up to you, but you have a lot of very similar horizontal striped tops!
Looks like a nice, well organised wardrobe. Enjoy your new house!

My mum did exactly this! Now she has a CRAZY amount of clothes! 🤣

This is my worry, I would probably just keep buy stuff haha! I have so many pjs and gym stuff also, it is ridiculous! I actually just need to be ruthless.

Middlechild3 · 10/08/2025 20:29

lots of repeats, e.g stripes white tops etc. Too many clothes really.

Plastictreees · 10/08/2025 20:30

I wouldn’t say so. But then again I have three double wardrobes full of clothes!

Overtheatlantic · 10/08/2025 20:32

Not obscene but it looks like you enjoyed your Breton phase!

BeanQuisine · 10/08/2025 20:33

I have about that many tops (including some waiting for me to lose more weight, as usual) but a higher ratio of long-sleeve to short, and a greater variety of colours and patterns.

Lilyhatesjaz · 10/08/2025 20:33

I have at least as much as you. I pack out of season clothes away and hang them up when I need them.
I also own and still wear clothes older than my children, and they both have full time jobs.

BondAway25 · 10/08/2025 20:35

Ikeameatballs · 10/08/2025 19:44

It’s not obscene but a lot of it looks like very similar items.

...and?

schaba · 10/08/2025 20:36

If I was you I’d get a colour analysis done. I think anyone suits a Breton top to be fair, but that wardrobe is dull

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 10/08/2025 20:39

Maybe your friend is envious of your walk in wardrobe? So nicely organised.

JudgeJ · 10/08/2025 20:40

Pancakeorcrepe · 10/08/2025 20:00

It’s quite a lot of clothes yes but I wouldn’t say it is obscene

They're all item per hanger, I have 3 or 4 pairs of trousers on one hanger and lots of tops in drawers, it I spread mine out like that I would need way more space!

bridgetreilly · 10/08/2025 20:42

It’s a lot. I mean, plenty of people have more than that, but it really is still a lot more than anyone needs.

BondAway25 · 10/08/2025 20:42

Kitchenbattle · 10/08/2025 19:55

Yeah I’m not a big colour person, reds, oranges, yellows don’t suit me at all. I’m drawn to greens, navy, black, cream, white and blush pink.

It looks beautiful & exactly how mine would look if I could design it. You have a little more colour range & variety then I do. 😁

ignore your 'friend', carry on as you are x

DongDingBell · 10/08/2025 20:45

OK, if the 72 tops mentioned by a PP is correct, and you only wear 1 top a day, you wear each top in your wardrobe 5 times a year.
Yes, I'd say that's fairly over catered.

distinctpossibility · 10/08/2025 20:45

I think it's quite a lot of clothes, I have about 18 tops and jumpers which includes work tops, sportswear, novelty christmas jumpers etc and I think that is quite a lot
However its all been purchased/produced/transported now so may as well keep hold of it if you've got plenty of space.

PeloMom · 10/08/2025 20:49

None of her business. What was she doing in your closet anyway?

BronwenFrideswide · 10/08/2025 20:50

Amount of clothes looks pretty normal/average to me, what I am very impresssed by is how wonderfully organised, neat and tidy it is.

Pancakeorcrepe · 10/08/2025 20:50

I know, but still it is quite a lot of clothes. I guess we all have a different measure
