To think this is not abscene…but fairly normal?!

I have moved house and I finally have a walk in wardrobe. I’ve decided to hang everything except trousers. Friend said this was an obscene amount of clothing and laughed so much. I think it’s not that crazy 😅 what do you think obscene or normal? 🤣 this is just the top section, next section over is dresses and coats etc.

Nowhere close to obscene!

My thought exactly 🤣

Looks normal enough to me. My problem is that my closet is crowded with things that need to go (don't fit well, don't ever wear, wearing out).

And I actually think a wardrobe that isn't full of variety makes more sense than one that's a little of everything. Most of us have favourites that we return to again and again. If you pay attention to that and learn what suits you and what you prefer, you may not want or need lots of different colours or styles. I'd rather have two similar tops in a style I love than four unique ones that I don't feel as comfortable wearing. (Of course, I'm also the type who will happily buy multiples of something, if I really like it, because I know I'll wear the first one out and wish I had another like it.)

ThatUniqueCyanPeer · 10/08/2025 19:28

Am I right in thinking you have about a 100 tops? And that's just the tops there. So yes, to me that's a crazy amount. But it's your wardrobe and if you have space for it

Aspidistree · 10/08/2025 19:30

It seems a huge amount to me. About 70 tops is it? I have about 15, plus a couple of gym tops and vest tops that I don't hang. But you do you. I don't like shopping, whereas I suspect you do.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 10/08/2025 19:30

Normal I would say. And highly organised now so that's better than most.

Overthebow · 10/08/2025 19:32

Why do you have so many of the same pair of shoes in different shades of green? Other then that I’d say fairly normal.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 10/08/2025 19:33

I'd say it looks normal & it's nice to see another lover of stripy tops!

OhMyGollyGoshGosh · 10/08/2025 19:33

Not obscene but is it really worthy of two threads?

You started the one the other day about the same wardrobe.

outerspacepotato · 10/08/2025 19:34

It's a lot of tops but you've got the space to see what you have and they're beautifully organized.

Not a problem.

I may or may not have multiple black and black and white striped tops myself. They're in drawers because I have a closet that's barely wider than its door.

Fishfungus · 10/08/2025 19:36

Crazy amount of clothes! I’d be bagging and down the charity shop 😄

Corrag · 10/08/2025 19:38

I feel like this could become a new sport on MN. You know like those threads where people ask for opinions about their typical daily diet and everyone piles in about the UPFs, not enough protein etc. That topic has been done to death. We could get people to post photos of their wardrobe for us all to rip to pieces pass comment on.

toiletpiper · 10/08/2025 19:38

Not obscene to me as I have a lot however a lot looks very samey.

PestoHoliday · 10/08/2025 19:39

Holy shit, that's 72 tops! That's absolutely loads.

7 black t-shirts, for heaven's sake. Why would you need an entire week's worth of black unless you're a) working a salon or b) a ninja.

toiletpiper · 10/08/2025 19:39

Sorry, that sounds rude. Maybe that's why she thought it was obscene? Do you wear the majority of it?

And I absolutely have stuff I don't wear very often but it's because it's more dressy etc.

TheCurious0range · 10/08/2025 19:40

Do you not have any dresses?

diddl · 10/08/2025 19:41

I only see 2 pics.

One with tops -& tshirts hanging?

And another of jackets, shoes & trousers?

Doesn't look that much to me from the pics.

PestoHoliday · 10/08/2025 19:41

TheCurious0range · 10/08/2025 19:40

Do you not have any dresses?

OP said dresses and jackets was in the next section of the wardrobe

Livelovebehappy · 10/08/2025 19:43

I looked and thought 😲, but tbh I keep jumpers and tops mostly in one of my two lots of chest of drawers, and could imagine if I took them and hung them in a wardrobe, I could possibly have more than that…

Imacaroni · 10/08/2025 19:43

There’s a spelling mistake in your title.

EwwSprouts · 10/08/2025 19:43

I can see tshirts, blouses and jumpers so think it's not that many.

GlitchStitch · 10/08/2025 19:43

That's not a lot of clothes to me. I have 3 double wardrobes that are overflowing and I also have piles extra that won't fit in them. But I'm a bit of a clothes hoarder!

Ikeameatballs · 10/08/2025 19:44

It’s not obscene but a lot of it looks like very similar items.

Chick981 · 10/08/2025 19:45

It’s a hell of a lot of tops, I’d say verging on obscene but seems I’m in minority

babyproblems · 10/08/2025 19:45

Oh goodness your friend would be shocked to see my wardrobe 😂😂😂 I have probably three times that and another wardrobe of coats / dresses / handbags plus an under bed drawer of knitwear.

Slobberchops1 · 10/08/2025 19:45

All the harbour tops - tell me your a millennial without telling me your a millennial.
