Beyond fed up of DH’s dispute with neighbour

This has been going on for months now and it kicked off again earlier.

One of our neighbours on the opposite side of the street keeps parking his van opposite our drive. This can make it challenging for us to get on and off as it’s very tight.

DH raised initially - he said politely, I wasn’t there - and it stopped for a bit but then resumed. I have overheard two heated confrontations where DH goes out to speaks to him as he parks up.

Tonight, there was a right slanging match which became personal. The man appears to live alone and DH said it’s no wonder he’s on his own. He then said something inappropriate along the lines of ‘I’ll let you have a go on my missus if you ask nicely’ and then said he was joking and in his dreams.

Any advice? I’m sick of hearing about it!!

If my DH said that as a 'joke' to anyone about me, he wouldn't have the privilege of being married to me for any longer.

Beammeupscotty2025 · 07/08/2025 21:44

If he is parked legally nothing you can do. Do you back up into your drive?

What he said about you was so disrespectful and immature.

MyAcornWood · 07/08/2025 21:45

What a disgusting disrespectful thing to say about you. Arguing with a neighbour is by far the least of your concerns with such a rancid husband.

Yeah I usually reverse on when the van isn’t there so it’s easier to get off. Not ideal but as you say parked legally - I can’t get too wound up about it unlike DH

I’d start parking where the van usually does, but I’m a cow

AlloaintheMiddle · 07/08/2025 21:52

Pardon he said what? I think I’m missing something.

What does he mean by “you can have a go on my missus”?

This.

Slobberchops1 · 07/08/2025 21:53

Your H is disgusting . What on earth possessed him to say something like that ? Weirdo .

PrettyYellow30 · 07/08/2025 21:56

Wow fancy saying that lol

BatchCookBabe · 07/08/2025 21:57

Your DH sounds unhinged and pretty horrible @JesssfirsttimeMum The van man who parks opposite your driveway is the least of your worries!

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 07/08/2025 21:57

Your husband said what?!
Revolting.

Arlanymor · 07/08/2025 21:57

Er suddenly I don’t care about the parking issue.

Your DH said WHAT? That’s disgusting. Even as a joke, that is disgusting.

Keroppi · 07/08/2025 21:57

The neighbour said that or DH? Doesn't even make sense in the argument if DH said it.

Start parking opposite your own drive for a bit. Or buy a banger and put it there 😇 but that's drastic
My next door neighbour has 5 cars and a massive work van that they park right up to my dropped curb. My dropped curb is also not completely central to the drive so sometimes it's impossible to get on and off the drive (there's a tree opposite)
I've raised it before but some neighbours aren't that interested - plus it's legal

Keroppi · 07/08/2025 21:58

Just realised my autocorrect changed kerb to curb. I'm so ashamed

DH did. He was furious and both of them were pretty much shouting in a slanging match and not making a lot of sense.

Go stand in the corner and think about what you did! 😂

TY78910 · 07/08/2025 22:00

What kind of peacocking is this. Why do men resort to lowering their IQ to throw insults when they run out of productive arguments? Pathetic

Why? WHY did he say 'you can have a go on my missus?' (Then said 'dream on' or something?!)

Just WHY?! Confused

Didntask · 07/08/2025 22:00

Fucking gross. I'd bin him for that comment alone. How disrespectful.

NewWin · 07/08/2025 22:00

You have bigger problems than your neighbours parking!! There is nothing on this earth that could incite my husband to speak about me like that. It's horrible. You deserve a lot better

PullTheBricksDown · 07/08/2025 22:01

I'd be more bothered about him talking about you to the neighbour like he's your pimp. If that's what he says to someone he's in a feud with, how does he talk about you to his friends?

Very much so.

Lemonadeat8 · 07/08/2025 22:09

Your husband sounds like a cunt.

Netcurtainnelly · 07/08/2025 22:10

Your message is vague, did you actually hear him say this, where you there?
