Beyond fed up of DH’s dispute with neighbour

This has been going on for months now and it kicked off again earlier.

One of our neighbours on the opposite side of the street keeps parking his van opposite our drive. This can make it challenging for us to get on and off as it’s very tight.

DH raised initially - he said politely, I wasn’t there - and it stopped for a bit but then resumed. I have overheard two heated confrontations where DH goes out to speaks to him as he parks up.

Tonight, there was a right slanging match which became personal. The man appears to live alone and DH said it’s no wonder he’s on his own. He then said something inappropriate along the lines of ‘I’ll let you have a go on my missus if you ask nicely’ and then said he was joking and in his dreams.

Any advice? I’m sick of hearing about it!!

What a disgusting man your husband is. Just horrendous. Do you have children with him?

The big question is why are you not deeply offended by the horrendous way he spoke about you?

Your message is vague, did you actually hear him say this, where you there?

I was in the living room at the front of the house with the windows open so could hear everything (as could other neighbours no doubt which is embarrassing)

Yes we do, and to be honest I’m used to him being a knob and beyond caring at this point

But where is your self respect? Do you want your children growling up hearing your husband offering you up to the neighbours?

Exactly and someone who shouts at people in the street - Frank Gallagher was funny, but no one would want that type of nonsense IRL. Come on @JesssfirsttimeMum - you need to tackle this now because it’s horrible and you surely deserve better.

Leave em to it. Even the best men can be so childish. I bet you have enough mental load without managing them two 🤡🤡 aswell

Redburnett · 07/08/2025 22:21

A marriage that isn't likely to last long if that is the level of disrespect the man has for his wife. (and it cannot be excused as a joke especially when said during an argument).

outerspacepotato · 07/08/2025 22:21

You're worrying about parking when your husband is a heinous disrespectful asshole about you?

Pardon he said what? I think I’m missing something.

What does he mean by “you can have a go on my missus”?

Lighten up it’s a joke. It’s like no one can have banter no more. 🙄

This is fascinating. You think even the best men can suggest they might let their neighbour have sex with their wife?

what is your life like? Do you work in a professional role? Have daughters? Have sons? Do you think men should be breadwinners and women should keep house?

what is your view on issues like domestic violence, women’s rights? If you are married does your husband see you as an equal? Do you see yourself as equal?

Please do explain the “joke” in the context of a parking argument?

(or on any context in my opinion).

I'm sure most men, especially the 'best ones' don't say to a neighbour 'do you want to have a go on my wife?!' I have never known any man say this! The OP's husband sounds a sandwich short of a picnic!

Totally bonkers....is he prostituting his wife for favours of the parking....

GreenCandleWax · 07/08/2025 22:35

Parking in your street and an argumentative man are the least of your problems, OP. One of you needs to have respect for you, and that has to be you. What your H said about you to the neighbour would be a dealbreaker.
