Beyond fed up of DH’s dispute with neighbour

This has been going on for months now and it kicked off again earlier.

One of our neighbours on the opposite side of the street keeps parking his van opposite our drive. This can make it challenging for us to get on and off as it’s very tight.

DH raised initially - he said politely, I wasn’t there - and it stopped for a bit but then resumed. I have overheard two heated confrontations where DH goes out to speaks to him as he parks up.

Tonight, there was a right slanging match which became personal. The man appears to live alone and DH said it’s no wonder he’s on his own. He then said something inappropriate along the lines of ‘I’ll let you have a go on my missus if you ask nicely’ and then said he was joking and in his dreams.

Any advice? I’m sick of hearing about it!!

Apology accepted.

😂

Cherryicecreamx · 07/08/2025 22:47

I think there's more of an issue with the "joke" he made about you. Totally inappropriate and unnecessary.

Lighten up it’s a joke. It’s like no one can have banter no more. 🙄

Fuck off Victor! 😂

I am really struggling on how we got from a parking argument (which by the way I think you should suck up if he isnt blocking you in) to your husband saying you wont shag my missus stuff - I mean wtf?!!

Er seriously? I don't see anyone laughing!

What???

You're mad about the parking dispute when he said THAT??

HAL200 · 07/08/2025 23:00

So your H was having slanging match with the neighbour and in the middle of it offered your sexual services to him if he asked nicely?

Eh?? Is he Fred West?

HatandCoat · 07/08/2025 23:00

Your husband said the neighbour he was annoyed with 'could have a go' on you? Are his bags packed?

JohnofWessex · 07/08/2025 23:04

Keroppi · 07/08/2025 21:57

The neighbour said that or DH? Doesn't even make sense in the argument if DH said it.

Start parking opposite your own drive for a bit. Or buy a banger and put it there 😇 but that's drastic
My next door neighbour has 5 cars and a massive work van that they park right up to my dropped curb. My dropped curb is also not completely central to the drive so sometimes it's impossible to get on and off the drive (there's a tree opposite)
I've raised it before but some neighbours aren't that interested - plus it's legal

Is the work van his employers in which case complain to them as its not a good advert for the company

I think it’s a reference to In the school holidays bored people make up crazy stories they know will outrage people to get a reaction.

this is a seemingly benign story about parking with a big dose of random misogyny thrown in that people are bound to react to.

chillibuns · 07/08/2025 23:22

Gross, he’s a complete moron.

It's troll hunting but outright troll hunting is against talk guidelines so people use these inane obscure "witty" statements instead to give themselves a deep sense of self-satisfaction that they've not been fooled.

Mirabai · 07/08/2025 23:28

Your wife’s sexual services are surely something you’d offer someone you liked? Not something you’d shout in a heated argument.

DOCTORCEE · 07/08/2025 23:29

OpenThatWindow · 07/08/2025 21:43

If my DH said that as a 'joke' to anyone about me, he wouldn't have the privilege of being married to me for any longer.

Agree - vile. What sort of creature says something like that!?

Aprilrainagainagain · 07/08/2025 23:30

He parked legally. Your DH is a twat. The comments he's made mean he is an offensive, moronic twat. I hope the man goes out tomorrow and buys an articulated lorry.

CountryMumof4 · 07/08/2025 23:37

It's escalated from being a parking issue to your DH being a disgusting prat. Sorry OP - it sounds like you're utterly exhausted by the situation (and the way your husband speaks, given you're resigned to it), but surely, SURELY, you've told him how bang out of order that was?? My husband's language can be pretty fruity at times, but he wouldn't come out with anything like that.

BountifulPantry · 07/08/2025 23:44

Ignore.

When he mentions it just say « oh that’s a shame »

who cares? Let him have his drama.

ReadingTime · 08/08/2025 00:07

What he said about you is absolutely rank. And the stupid shouting at a neighbour is so demoralising. He sounds like a total waste of space and waste of your energy.

Velmy · 08/08/2025 00:09

If my partner shouted that about me in the street, he'd be waiting some time before he next 'had a go' himself.

Mirabai · 07/08/2025 23:28

I read it as the neighbour wouldn’t stand a chance with wifey and he was metaphorically shaking his big dick at him, or something like that.

Workingmum2025 · 08/08/2025 00:31

if Not parked illegally you both need to get better at driving , also kick the knuckle dragging husband the kerb with the old man van!! Vile behaviour

Nettyhugs · 08/08/2025 01:43

I think you should be more concerned about the fact that you’re married to a knob (in your own words) who speaks about you in a disgusting way than the fact that your DH has an ongoing petty dispute with a neighbour. Your other neighbours and kids could have heard him saying the neighbour could “have a go” on you.
