To think it's normal to tie your hair back to poo or eat?

Came up in conversation with a friend, we both have just below the shoulder length hair. I tie my hair back/up whenever I go for a poo or eat a meal and she thinks this is really odd, is it? 🤔 I've always done it and thought it was something a lot of people do, especially when eating.

My hair is back a lot, so it's usually up for a loo trip anyway, but if it's down I've made a LOT of effort to make it look presentable and tying it back would kink it, so I don't then.

I can understand feeling uncomfortable with it in your face in any scenario though.

Yes it's weird. Even while eating weird else it's something very messy! I might tie up my hair while cleaning so it doesn't get in the way but the toilet doesn't make sense.

I have however read about people liking to get naked to poo so maybe it's a bit like that?!

My hair's a bit longer than that and I tie it back first thing in the morning, and usually don't let it loose again until bedtime.

And certainly it's tied up for meals and long sessions on the bog, when I'll want to be reading without hair in my face.

You are very weird. I take my glasses off when I go to the loo but that's perfectly normal.

I don't really get all the angst about airborne germs from the flush either. Our work toilets don't even have a lid

I tie my hair back for housework or gardening etc as it's long and it just drives me mad getting in the way. But why for the toilet?

I'm with the OP, I put it in a pony tail or bun when I do both.
I do the same with my daughter's hair too (7yr old).

Hair tied back for eating and puking……..oh, and when I was on duty at work because it HAD to be………otherwise no.

To poo? No, but for eating, mostly, yes. It’s ver6 warm here so it’s already gone up.

Always when I eat and sometimes when I'm cooking but pooing - no.

I put it in a clip the second I get in the door. It drives me mad having it down when I'm at home.

It’s handy being able to tie hair back. When it’s hot, when it’s a mess! I also tie it up so I can get another day before washing it.
For me, short hair is higher maintenance and needs cut much more often. You can’t bead a messy bun! Also, I have the choice to leave it down.

I nearly always have to tie my hair up for eating, washing up, cooking, cleaning etc. Because I'm easily hot and easily over stimulated but I have never tied it up for a poo 😂it doesn't require that much physical exertion and isn't long enough to get in the way, if you know what I mean 😂

I don’t think it’s that weird. I don’t do it, but every one has their quirks. I don’t like eating with my glasses on – I find it overstimulating!

Maybe if I'm eating something particularly messy but in general no and no when I poo. Very odd but to each their own I guess.

Reminds me of a few years ago on the Rate My Plate Facebook group when I posted a photo of my sister's lunch - a big bowl of Brussels sprouts and hard boiled eggs, absolutely drenched in vinegar. A guy went on about how disgusting it was people wasting food for likes when it really was my sister's food she regularly ate 😂

Agree, also to take out or put in contact lenses.

I always have a hairband in my pocket and now my hair is shorter, I need a clip, which I can't keep in my pocket. This also came up in the original conversation with my friend.

I tie mine up for both of these sometimes and also to wash up for some reason

I've recently had a fringe put in so I don't have to tie mine up so much. I was getting bald spots at my temples from so much scraping back.

I tie it up for work but at home I let loose unless housework is happening, or cooking.

Only if I'm constipated. I get stressed out and then the feeling of my hair and clothes touching me stresses me out more so I end up putting my hair up and stripping naked. It seems to help get things moving, not sure how 🤷‍♀️
