Team day out without me

Ereerenownow · 10/05/2025 16:04

Have just seen on social media that my entire team have been taken out as a treat by our manager. He has taken them to a local seaside resort for ice creams and general fun. I haven't been invited and didn't know anything about it. I'm the only one not there. We were all in the office yesterday and not a single person mentioned it.

OP posts:

You should report this to HR it's actually really serious and classed as discrimination and alienation. So sorry this happened to you!

Pessismistic · 11/05/2025 18:05

Your manager is an arsehole if you have hr tell them this is frowned upon in my work place but one year manager bought all team an Xmas gift and I was the only one who didn’t get one I was so pissed off but i know he’s a shit manager and accept that now and don’t let it get to me.

PotatoLove · 11/05/2025 18:06

I'm sorry OP. Shows very bad management and all round shitty behaviour.

He put something along the lines of 'treating my great team. '

Edited

Is this a WhatsApp group? I’d write ‘Why wasn’t I invited to a team day out?’

This and also it must have been arranged very sneakily so it was definitely intentional report and see what happens. Even if manager has a personal problem with you he should never leave you out of any team events. What a knob thinking was being clever outing himself petty manchild.

moodybluehpc · 11/05/2025 18:17

Ice cream and day out. Sounds juvenile. Be thankful you weren't invited. Don't let them think you're bothered.

Single50something · 11/05/2025 18:28

Was it your non working day? Still shit no one mentioned it though. You should have been given the option to join in still

That sucks. You can’t really win coz if you say anything the chat after between the bitches will be “did you hear moanyface complained at not being invited yesterday and manager said we can’t do anything else nice again because of her, cow”.

Best thing to do is look fur another job now you know you’re not well liked to the extent they don’t invite you on jollys. They are horrible. You deserve better.

Sorry bit that is awful advice!
If they don't treat her with respect now anyway, why should she care what they say behind her back?
Stand up for yourself OP, speak to Manager & do take it further, it is awful of them to do that! You should challenge & watch them squirm, let them try to explain.

It may be juvenile but why should OP not show she is bothered? That will not help long term & just mean they feel they can continue to freeze her out

Absolutely not the point.

I don’t think that’s the point.

Flyswats · 11/05/2025 19:14

I don't think reporting it is going to help you. Keep your head down, focus hard on getting that new job, make finding it your 2nd job if that makes sense. And get good references off these folks.

I'm sorry you were left out. That reflects very poorly on the management and the culture of the place you're working in. Best out of it.

AthWat · 11/05/2025 19:20

stclementine · 11/05/2025 14:07

How ridiculous. I live by the sea and every adult I know likes to have a stroll, sit on the beach and have an ice cream.

With a bunch of people they don't get on with?

What would the OP be trying to achieve - to get invited in future so she could refuse? It certainly doesn't sound like she would want to give up her weekend to do this.

I think you are wrong on this. Op should report, it is awful behaviour, it is bullying via exclusion.

Sorry this happened to you OP.

I'm not wrong that it won't help her find a new job. What will it achieve, there's not going to be a culture overhaul in her favor, best case scenario is they lay her off with a lump sum.

TennesseeStella · 10/05/2025 16:11

Ice cream at the seaside is a fun day out for toddlers, not working adults. I'd be quite glad not to be asked along!

That, is most definitely not the point. @Ereerenownow fucking well have it out with them tomorrow! How hurtful!

TeatimeForTheSoul · 11/05/2025 19:43

@OneTaupeTraybake that’s so appalling. I’m so sorry you had to endure this. Did anyone ever report them for this blatant racism?
@Ereerenownow I’m really empathising with you as I’m in a similar situation, as a specialist working within a big team of another profession. It’s sh*t. I actively behave inclusively, have gradually lost more and more respect watching appalling behaviour within the team (problem is probably I won’t accept being bullied) and am just waiting for another suitable position to come up.

3awesomestars · 11/05/2025 19:55

That’s really horrible behaviour by your manager and all of the team for not calling it out. I’m sorry you are having to experience such nastiness.

SamDeanCas · 11/05/2025 20:04

I think I’d go to hell on him. Do you have a HR team? I’d be r reporting him for bullying and getting myself a good lawyer to back me up .

This. You have dodged a bullet here. Socialising with work colleagues at the weekend with this twee enforced fun and a manager who is bragging about treating his staff..no thanks..just totally ignore this. Who cares you won't be there forever.

MrsPositivity1 · 11/05/2025 20:45

That’s just dreadful thing for the manager to have done

Nope disagree. This isn’t about the OPs pride or standing up for rights.

The OP has to work with these bitches. Why make the atmosphere any worse than it is?

What do people think HR will do - I’d suggest either nothing or make the manager invite the OP in future. Everyone will know what happened and the atmosphere will be awful.

Yes she can stand up for equality blah blah but what’s the point. The place is awful. The stress and atmosphere will be even worse. It will be a living hell. Fuck that. She needs to go. The place is shite and it will always be shite. The OP deserves better treatment. Time to go.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 11/05/2025 21:22

That’s really shocking and completely inappropriate.

are you sure you didn’t just miss the invite/communication? If not then I would actually report it to HR
