Why are Kneecap not in prison?

1000 replies

BlossomBlanket · 29/04/2025 19:49

But Lucy Connelly is? Kneecap told people to kill their MPs. Why have they not been arrested.

(To be very clear, I do not condone violence of any kind towards anyone, I'm just asking as this seems like a double standard, can someone explain?)

You appear to have judged kneecap on the basis of their identity as (vocal) Irish Republicans, you have repeatedly lumped together 'the irish' as if Irish people are a homogeneous mass rather than a diverse nation with a variety of opinions, political goals, thoughts etc
You have said, without evidence, that Kneecap are seeking a return to trauma in Northern Ireland despite the evidence to the contrary and your own eventual acceptance that they aren't sectarian.

I have definitely never lumped together “the Irish”
😆
If there is one thing I know it is that Irish people have their own mind

Yes you will probably forget about them when you aren't being told to be angry.
Meanwhile they'll be playing one of the biggest festivals in the world, multiple UK dates and a sold out tour of US and Canada in Autumn so not that quiet.

Yes but they won't say up hamas or kill your mp will they? They've learnt which side their bread is buttered.

If that's what gives you a winning feeling you hold on to that. Meanwhile the stupid Irish rappers will have an audience of tens of thousands and you can write to the BBC when they broadcast their live set from Glastonbury.

Er…yes you most certainly did!😅

I remember because I objected to the comment earlier in the thread.

I do remember objecting to “the Irish” being lumped together earlier in the thread.

If you can genuinely provide evidence that I have lumped Irish viewpoints together I will hang my head in shame…

Imustgetupsoon · 09/05/2025 22:12

“the posters on here are not representative of the Irish” you said.

Still not sure why you thought that, or who you believe the Irish to be. I did ask at the time 🤷‍♀️

What’s wrong with saying that? Are you saying you represent Irish views? Seriously?

Imustgetupsoon · 09/05/2025 22:15

You still don’t see it?

Ok - I do sort of see why it annoyed you. Apologies
Of course your view is worth as much as everyone else’s.
Im sorry if you thought I was saying your view wasn’t representative of Ireland.
My view is different but you’re entitled to your views . Ireland ( like every other civilised country) will have people of different opinions who have to rub along together.

Imustgetupsoon · 09/05/2025 22:32

Okay, thank you @OpheliaWasntMad.
(And sorry to be a complete bitch but you did say that btw, it’s not that I just ‘thought’ that you did 😉)
But agree with the other sentiments and thanks.

Aah.. We probably agree overall. You’re right to want to clarify . Don’t apologise xx

We do probably mostly agree I’d say 😁

Why would I write to the bbc, I'll probably watch it. I've no issue with a shouty act sharing their views as long as they leave their hatred and incitement out of it.

Well if you do find yourself intimated by the headwear or if you feel yourself being inspired to go and restart the troubles in NI be sure to reach out for some help.

What a dismissive and glib way to refer to the terrible past conflict in ni where many people suffered terribly, both republicans and unionists. 'Go and restart the troubles'. Seriously.

His wee stripey balaclava is goady, we all know that. He doesn't threatened me at all but he is trying to cosplay a threatening character. Badly, it has to be said.

It's quite the about turn that you and your chums are performing from hating Kneecap and everything they stand for and casually dismissing the conflict in NI to number one fan looking forward to the Glastonbury coverage and being terribly concerned about the feelings of people in NI.
Congratulations on your personal journey of enlightenment.

I've always said its their comments of hate and kill your mp that has been the issue. I couldn't care less about their background but they should desist from trying to be experts in conflict just because their parents grew up in one.

Hardly a number one fan, rather you said I could write to the bbc and I said why would I if they've learnt to stop with the incitement?

Traybake99 · 10/05/2025 12:36

What you actually said among other things is that they are thickos stirring up hate and violence and that you hope they keep getting cancelled. Now you are so lacking in the courage of your convictions that you are sitting down to watch them live on the BBC.

It’s blatantly clear you couldn’t care less, you have ignored comments on generational trauma, ongoing conflicts, environmental divides that exist today. There are numerous studies and articles on the subject, have a read and come back and critique them. You are more invested in having the last “silly laddies” comment than responding to studies and links posted on the genocide in Palestine which you deny is taking place. Go for it, you denounce the silly laddies one more time and leave it at that.

Gloriia · 10/05/2025 18:04

'It’s blatantly clear you couldn’t care less'

I clearly meant I couldn't care less which 'side' they're on, whether republicans or unionists. Past conflicts do not give them permission to spout hatred and incite violence.

Gloriia · 10/05/2025 18:06

Hey, it wasn't me who tried to minimise the whole thing by calling them wee silly laddies.

How on earth have I been a racist? I have said persistently that regardless of this trio's background they should not incite violence amd spout hate. Your personal attacks are very tedious. Can you try a bit of peace, hmm?
