Following your hundreds of posts on this topic this is what you put forward as properly balanced?
These extracts sum up all that is wrong with that article
'A key driver of this is based on the group’s ‘understanding’ of Anglo-Irish history and the Troubles, a history steeped in sectarian division and killing'.
'As the Troubles escalated, hatred-driven between two groups led to an increasing amount of violent rhetoric against one another. That pathway quickly became one of bitter sectarian division, bombings and targeted killings. A contributing factor of this was the inability to consider more than one fixed viewpoint, even as violence spread'
The article makes no reference to what led to the civil rights movement and what led to many Catholic/Nationalists taking to the streets in protest. This is Kneecap's background. The article fails to reference the blatant discrimination that existed and still exists in some areas of society today. It fails offer any explanation for ' a history steeped in sectarian division'
No mention of large sections of the Catholic/Nationalist community (parents and grandparents of Kneecap members) being deprived of a vote due to gerrymandering and Unionist domination even in areas where the majority of the population were Catholic/Nationalist. This, because unless you owned property or paid rates you were not entitled to a vote. If you owned a business you were entitled to further votes but if you worked in that business, you were not.
No mention of large sections of Catholic/Nationalist community being discriminated against when it came to employment. Often an employer went no further than to ask what school you went to, to reject your chances of employment.
No mention of discrimination when it came to the allocation of public housing.
No mention of how difficult it was for Catholic/Nationalists to access higher education.
No mention of the police force, it's discrimination ( still exists today) and the mob known as BSpecials who were brutal in Catholic/Nationalist areas.
All of the above has happened in the memories of many people who still live today in Belfast and beyond. Not in ancient history as some would have you believe.
Your acceptance of such an article as balanced makes me question why you have devoted lots of time and effort in this thread. What you need to realise we don't bow down anymore and this croppy and many, many others won't lie down either.
