Trans protest- sharing for balance

1000 replies

Tandora · 20/04/2025 11:47

There’s a thread sharing some really awful images from the protest, so I wanted to share some positive ones for the sake of some perspective/ balance.
A lot of people are really understandably incredibly angry and overwhelmed by the events of the last few days. But most people who support trans rights absolutely don’t condone fighting oppression and injustice with misogyny.

What percentage of shit in your sandwich would be balanced and acceptable OP? Or in your mates' case, urine?

CaptainFuture · 20/04/2025 12:15
Cracking Up Lol GIF

You aren’t interested in hearing or understanding. There’s nothing that anyone can explain to someone who takes that attitude. 😆😆
That's hilarious from a TRA!

"Pot calling kettle... come in kettle!!"....

So let's do this again Tandora. What makes a 'transwoman' a woman?

I listened to one TW being interviewed yesterday (can't remember his name) and he said that TW were inherently men because unless you were actually a man it was impossible to be a TW.

How do we know which males are the predatory ones? It's just more of the same really. And really quite irrelevant to women having a legal status.

ImConfusedDotComHelp · 20/04/2025 12:17

TheKeatingFive · 20/04/2025 11:53

How is anyone supposed to tell the difference between a predatory man and a genuine transwoman?

And at some level, isn't anyone accessing women's spaces without woman's consent, predatory regardless?

This.

How do I work out the difference. Which male person in a dress is the safe one? I have no idea.

Sarahconnor1 · 20/04/2025 12:17

These protest had:
Transwomen pissing in public
Placards threatening violence
Chants included 'we want wombs and titties'
Graffiti over the fawcett statue
And Sarah Jane Baker

Forgive me if I'm not convinced that these males should have access to women's single sex spaces

SigourneyHoward · 20/04/2025 12:17

Wait, is the SC a fascistic body? (that doesn't look like its a properly spelt word!)

SunnyDenimKoala · 20/04/2025 12:18

Trans people retained their legal rights and this was made clear in the judgement.

The court case was around the definition of women, which some transpeople has been seeking and successfully undermining. Which resulted in harm to women.

It was a woman's right case, trans rights are unaffected.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 20/04/2025 12:18

Tandora · 20/04/2025 12:09

They are protesting against women's sex based rights.

They are protesting fascism.

Edited

Oh, do get a grip.

Describing a group of women asking the politically neutral Supreme Court to uphold their sex based rights contained in the equal rights legislation introduced by a left wing government and debated and passed into law by a democratically elected parliament as fascism is next level idiocy.

Monstera200 · 20/04/2025 12:19

There's only one thing all the people at that protest have in common OP.

They couldn't give two shits about women.

It's pure misogyny.

No one is saying trans people don't exist. No one is saying people can't still identify how they chose. What we are saying is that sex is binary, and women need their own spaces.

TheKeatingFive · 20/04/2025 12:19

We are all completely sick of the delusional bullshit @Tandora

This degree of misogyny is extremely dangerous for society

Letsummercommence · 20/04/2025 12:19

Tandora · 20/04/2025 12:07

Oooo. Fascinating. Women are not allowed to define misogyny.

I am a woman. I know what misogyny is when I see it, and , no , you do not get to reinvent anti-trans ideology as misogyny.

Edited

But saying that "woman" is a feeling and an identity eliminates what a woman actually is - a biologically female human.
The problem with that is biology it is what differentiates us from men - how long we live, childbirth, periods and female bodies that even the best surgery/hormones can't create.
Denying we are women is misogyny

miraxxx · 20/04/2025 12:19

Tandora · 20/04/2025 11:54

The point is that you are completely wrong about that and it is deeply oppressive to try to enforce policies that say so.

You have to be a man to become a transwoman, ffs!

Scentbird · 20/04/2025 12:21

Why have you used signs that would be deemed as transphobic? If said by a gender critical woman?

Did no one at the protest have an issue with that? That’s strange!

Spirallingdownwards · 20/04/2025 12:21

Unfortunately this is MN. You won't get a balanced view on this subject. Any thread is hijacked by those with very anti trans views and those who are in the live and let live brigade are out shouted.

My own view is that trans women should not be allowed to compete in women's sport but other than that each person is an individual and should be judged as that individual. There are evil men and evil women and evil trans men and evil trans women but there are also good people in every category too. Judge the person not the group.

I know there will be people who disagree with my view about the sport issue too. I am simply saddened that there is so much hatred towards other people whether that's based on race, religion, sexual preference or sexuality.

IHeartHalloumi · 20/04/2025 12:22

All transwomen are men. Some transwomen are sexual predators. Writing homophobic slurs on statues of women, or pouring their urine on offices they don't like changes nothing.

I suspect a lot of transpeople will cease to be trans once being trans is of no benefit to them - especially males in the criminal justice system

So you think men should have access to women's prisons, domestic abuse shelters, rape crisis groups, hospital wards?

Why single out sport as an exception, but not these spaces?

LoopyLouLaLa · 20/04/2025 12:24

men dressing up as women has been down for decades. If they want to continue, then so be it. But there’s no such thing as trans women. Just real women and men who like to dress up, invade female spaces, or butcher themselves as they have mental illness.

There isn’t ‘hatred’.

The SC ruling is clear. Sex is binary and women does not include men.

The violence and threats are not coming from women. FWS sang wonderfully after the ruling, no threats required.

ImConfusedDotComHelp · 20/04/2025 12:25

But some of the placards aren't factual. Sex is actually binary. Of course trans people's lives matter, no one said they don't.

OuchyEars · 20/04/2025 12:25

Just for a moment I thought this thread was a good faith attempt.
Then I read OP's responses. Yawn.

It used to be termed transvestites and transsexuals. Mem who wear dresses and men who want to be female.

What you mean is that on Mumsnet people won't pretend that poorly evidenced misogynistic bullshit carries equal weight to the point of view of intelligent people who have actually taken the time to inform themselves.

EasternStandard · 20/04/2025 12:26

@Tandoraif you are suggesting the Supreme Court judges are anything close to ‘fascist’ then that is not right.
