What threads do you always hide?

If any!

If I scroll through and see anyone ask about accountancy help, HMRC advice, tax return, accounts etc I just hide them. I can't stand seeing 90% of the "advice" on those threads being absolute bollocks.

I used to hide the divorce ones when I was going through mine, I didn't want extra headspace going into it.

The Meghan threads. The hate is unhinged.

EarlofShrewsbury · 14/04/2025 09:45

That long running support thread for spouses of neurodiverse people.

I'm neurodiverse and I find the whole thing a bit ableist and offensive.

Granted, I'm not the target audience.

Weight loss jabs to me seem to be the ones that do actually stay in the right topic, I wonder if MN are hot on moving them

I don't have them hidden but have noticed that they always seem to be where they belong

You mean like these ones in AIBU?

To want to get weight loss injections on the NHS? | Mumsnet

to think more negative effects will come out from Ozempic use? | Mumsnet

To be jealous of everyone getting slim in weight loss jabs while I get fatter ! | Mumsnet

I can hide threads on the mobile

Odd. I don’t get that option at all. Annoying!

Oooh I found it. Time to hide the Trans threads!

I agree. I'll never understand how you can hate someone who has had zero impact on your life like that, maniac dictator or crooked politicians aside.

I dip my toe in gender discussions sometimes. I don't know why I bother as I know whatever I say will make no difference to those filled with misplaced hate. I don't tend to read the replies though. Like I said, I hide certain topics but sometimes they bleed through into other threads.

Tandora · 14/04/2025 19:29

This is wise.

Port1aCastis · 14/04/2025 19:35

The let's all bitch about Meghan threads

ioioitdj · 14/04/2025 19:37

I don’t really hide any, but yeah the royal family ones are absolutely bonkers, whether it’s love or hate, I find it so weird people have that amount of headspace for them. Psychologists should study the ones about Meghan.

TooBigForMyBoots · 14/04/2025 20:09

Me too @menopausalfart. I do it to emphasise that women's rights are what feminism is about. I get roundly scolded for it by the Trumpettes and Right Whingers.🙈😂

granhands1 · 14/04/2025 20:17

Christmas, weightloss injections and the royal family

mondaytosunday · 14/04/2025 20:22

Nub theory, baby name suggestions are top of the list

FarmGirl78 · 14/04/2025 20:32

Gender/sex/trans bashing ones. I'm a straight female. The hatred and narrow mindedness is stunning. I feel sick that people can be so pre-judging and bigoted.

UrsulasHerbBag · 14/04/2025 20:33

Long titles, I avoid Megan threads they are spiteful, benefit bashers show up a nasty side of posters as well as the disabled bashers.
One of the biggest arseholes I have ever seen posting has been all over this thread being an uninformed arsehole... I will not usually post on threads they are on but here I am.

I’m with you. I had to reply on one the other day but the amount of crap and often completely incorrect advice on tax/ accounts matters is astounding. It’s so hard when you answer with correct reasoned points and someone who clearly doesn’t know what they are talking about tries picking it apart 😬😬😬

lavenderlolly · 14/04/2025 21:25

I hide the Feminism sex & gender board and The Royal Family as I find posters on both absolutely nuts.

Yes, these. Absolutely bonkers.

Also the weight jab ones.

Then ones that are no longer relevant to me, like TTC.

Exactly. I have absolutely no interest in Meghan. I imagine that if I met her, I wouldn't really like her. However, the hate that surrounds her is absolutely insane. It's completely unhinged and off the scale. People (primarily women) seem to get so much pleasure in tearing her to pieces. I just don't understand it.

scalt · 14/04/2025 23:06

I hid all the covid threads that weren't in that topic.

I get annoyed by moralising titles such as "AIBU to ask you to do something...", although I don't bother to hide them.

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 15/04/2025 01:05

I hide a thread if it becomes unreadable and I can't follow the narrative anymore.

Usually because of one of the following:

  • two posters are having an extended battle over an irrelevant side issue
  • one poster comes on late in the piece and decides to take issue with everything that's been said so far by spamming the thread with new quote posts
  • nobody RTFT or the OP's updates
  • some tedious poster decided to make it all about who would play the OP in a movie
CiaoMeow · 15/04/2025 01:36

Didn't know you could hide threads!

narcASD · 15/04/2025 01:40

Am I pregnant ones - do a test FFS

UnctuousUnicorns · 15/04/2025 01:44

Any mentioning vomit, or anything equally gross. I just don't need to read that.
