What threads do you always hide?

If any!

If I scroll through and see anyone ask about accountancy help, HMRC advice, tax return, accounts etc I just hide them. I can't stand seeing 90% of the "advice" on those threads being absolute bollocks.

I used to hide the divorce ones when I was going through mine, I didn't want extra headspace going into it.

Titles about "banning" something. "Can we ban outdoor cats?" MNetters think that banning is the answer to everything.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned "wearing a mask". I hid all of those, and reported them so that they might be moved to their rightful place.

Haven't seen any mask threads in years. Wonder if I hid the COVID topic?!

I don't see why either side on the trans debate can't post their constantly recycled arguments in FWR. Or perhaps MNHQ could create a trans forum. I've never hidden threads but I'm tempted to hide the ones cluttering up AIBU.

It would be a good idea.

I've now discovered that I don't even know how to hide threads.

It’s the arrow in top right if you click a drop down list appears. One is hide thread

@jellyfishperiwinkle I'm with you there . The feminism regulars are all one olive short of a pizza.

Is that on the app? The browser has three little dots and there isn't a hide option. Thanks, I'll investigate again.

ilovesooty · 19/04/2025 12:42

@Tandora i I think I've done it. Thanks.

I have only ever been on AIBU as a topic and I have never actually hidden anything but there's plenty I don't read. The main ones are the hateful anti trans threads (I don't give nasty or intolerant people my time) and ones where the only point is to whine about others. When I have read these, they tend to be the kind of posters who will not accept being told they are unreasonable so are ultimately pointless.

You only go on AIBU but don't read threads where people whine about others? It doesn't leave much, does it? Grin

And I bet wee Mary is still called wee Mary when she's 45!

Wee Mary is nearly 50 now.😆
Big Mary's DD once asked why her ma was called Big Mary when Wee Mary is way taller.😆😆😆

Not really, though what I particularly avoid is the ones who I sort of know they won't accept being told that they are actually being unreasonable.

Expecting this story to end like russian dolls... Wee Mary has her own daughter called Mary and she's small so she's known as wee Mary's wee Mary.

Just want to say there was someone the other day with an AIBU about how they hate cheese.. Haven't managed to find it since. Might have to go on a pc as can't find things easily on the mobile app. How weird is that to think it might be reasonable to ban cheese ,or get people to agree with that to any major degree ?

Not read the thread you are referring to but TBF most "AIBU to think that cheese/Marmite/salt & vinegar crisps are awful and should be banned" threads are tongue in cheek. They're just highlighting how much they dislike the random thing and looking for kindred spirits to vent with/lighthhearted debate with people who reply "Yabu! It's the food of the gods! Now sausage rolls on the other hand, they can get in the bin!". Etc etc.

They're not literally saying that those things should be banned!

Liz1tummypain · 19/04/2025 16:23

@SonoPazziQuestiRomani yes let's hope you're right. I didn't check back but that's probably what they were doing.
