What threads do you always hide?

If any!

If I scroll through and see anyone ask about accountancy help, HMRC advice, tax return, accounts etc I just hide them. I can't stand seeing 90% of the "advice" on those threads being absolute bollocks.

I used to hide the divorce ones when I was going through mine, I didn't want extra headspace going into it.

I don't think I've hidden any but ghere are loads I don't open from the title

B1indEye · 13/04/2025 17:18

gamerchick · 13/04/2025 17:12

They don't stay in there. People think they've found the holy grail and want to talk about it, not getting that we're not interested and would rather the threads stay in their own board.

Definitely long titles..

Weight loss jabs to me seem to be the ones that do actually stay in the right topic, I wonder if MN are hot on moving them

I don't have them hidden but have noticed that they always seem to be where they belong

Weight loss jabs

why?

Tandora · 13/04/2025 17:20

jellyfishperiwinkle · 13/04/2025 17:02

I hide the Feminism sex & gender board and The Royal Family as I find posters on both absolutely nuts.

You are not wrong..

TuckedUpInBedWithAPackOfCremeEggs · 13/04/2025 17:54

B1indEye · 13/04/2025 17:05

Why haven't you hidden the topic?

Can you do that from the app??

TuckedUpInBedWithAPackOfCremeEggs · 13/04/2025 17:58

Tandora · 13/04/2025 17:19

why?

Complex reasons tbh, stemmed from
deep trauma/body image/disordered eating.

But main reason being that many posters are evangelical about them despite not knowing anything about long term effects and completely refusing to listen to anybody that dare suggest anything negative about long term effects etc.

Smallmercies · 13/04/2025 17:59

Anything trans related. Bad for my blood pressure.

JHound · 13/04/2025 17:59

I did not know you could hide any? Excellent news - let me figure out how.

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 13/04/2025 17:59

Royal Family - so many obsessives
Guess the sex from the scan photo - utter drivel but ‘just for fun’
Sex topic - full of weirdos

fuckingangrybirdbrows · 13/04/2025 18:00

'Good morning! What is everyone up to today?'

urgh fuck off

Acc0untant · 13/04/2025 18:03

An eclectic mix it seems!

So true! They are equally as dogmatic and full of people who can't hold a sensible conversation even though I agree with the sentiment ofln the feminism board its so unnuanced it reminds me of trying to have a conversation with somebody from the socialist worker party.

I don’t hide these but I never ever open them!

Teenagequeenwithaloadedgun · 13/04/2025 18:09

Am I pregnant?
What colour are my eyes
Anything to do with death
Trans threads
Wordle threads

I should hide 'how old do I look?' threads because they drive me insane, but sometimes I wind myself up and read them.

TuckedUpInBedWithAPackOfCremeEggs · 13/04/2025 17:54

Can you do that from the app??

No idea, I don't know why anyone uses the app with its limited functions, but I assume that if you hide them on the website they won't appear on the app

EmpressaurusKitty · 13/04/2025 18:13

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 13/04/2025 18:06

I don’t hide these but I never ever open them!

I hide them too, because otherwise I’d end up posting ‘Mind your own business’ which doesn’t seem fair.

Also the ‘You have to name your pet after the last thing you bought at the supermarket. What do you name your pet?’ type threads because they always just end up as long lists & seem pointless.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 13/04/2025 18:14

I wish more people who don’t appear to understand basic biology or who deem any woman who wants to retain single sex spaces and sports ‘big transphobe bigots’ would hide the Feminism Sex & Gender board. Would save the usual plop posts that they never return to explain or can back up.

Anyhoo, I don’t hide any board. Can’t imagine being that bothered by something that I actually have to hide it. It’s easy not to open up any thread that I’ve no interest in.

maddening · 13/04/2025 18:15

I don't hide any threads I find needing to do so or feeling the need to do so is weird

abracadabra1980 · 13/04/2025 18:18

None. It's taken me a year or so to ever learn how to navigate @mumsnetas there are no sodding instructions on how to use the site.

TeenLifeMum · 13/04/2025 18:19

I just scroll rather than hide but agree with most of the topics listed above as being ones I ignore.

menopausalfart · 13/04/2025 18:20

I can't stand any trans hate threads.

TheCountofMountingCrispBags · 13/04/2025 18:21

Any to do with word games

SallyWD · 13/04/2025 18:25

Threads that descend into people attacking Muslims, immigrants, asylum seekers etc. Blaming all our problems on immigrants. Punching down. Hate all that stuff.

ICanTellYouMissMe · 13/04/2025 18:27

Any of the long running cliquey ones with the hugely long cringey ‘hilarious’ in joke titles.

Smallmercies · 13/04/2025 17:59
