To take recreational drugs in your 50s

Just that really. Bunch of married fathers going out and taking recreational drugs (concealed up one of them’s rectum) - one hid it from his wife, one has a wife that does it too, the other I don’t know.

I'd judge anyone doing it. And dump them.

I have to admit a lot of MN posters seem to think it's okay to do in teens and early 20s.

I am a very uncool person. Life seems quite challenging enough without messing up your body. Especially these days. At any age.

Another thing to add to the ‘ick list’

Depends what it is. Coke and amphetamines? Fuck no, heart attack drugs and make you into a wanker for the duration. Weed? Meh, ok, whatever. Psychedelics? Why not, as long as there's someone experienced to guide and sort dosage and location. MDMA? Sure, same again. Don't overdo the dancing.

I think it was MDMA. I can’t bear the fakeness. All lovey dovey and then just awful
on a come down. They are pretty vacuous people though. Very caught up in their own wonderfulness.

It's not OK at any age but if I recall my younger years correctly I thought I was invincible and that the consequence of reckless behaviour didn't apply to me so I'll forgive the under 25's their poor judgement.

Recreational drugs at 50+ is just sad.

It just seems a bit unevolved. And like they haven’t quite grown up yet. It does make me lose respect for them.

They are the types to buy fairtrade tea too yet drugs cause so much damage in terms of gangs and forced labour. Not to mention the addiction for many.

It’s not their health I am thinking about to be honest. That’s their business. I just find it a bit immature. And hypocritical.

It's very dangerous when you are older. Sadly, a lot of people are taking recreational drugs in their 50's.

Cocaine and ketamine sales are through the roof.

I wouldn't do it.

Which incidentally would be what I'd be worried about at 50+ yo anyway, especially if it's cocaine.

I had a BALL in my teens, twenties and thirties. An absolute ball! Enjoyed every party, rave and festival. Every Friday night, post work housemate & boyfriend catch up with beers and a spliff. And the Sunday afternoons stoned and watching a movie or a natural history doc 👀. Amazing memories.

Would I do drugs now? Not a chance - the FEAR would kill me if the drug induced heart attack didn’t. Would I judge others? Depends on their circumstances I guess.

I did drugs in my 20s (ecstasy and coke). We all knew someone who took too much coke and had a hard time getting off it.

Really? How do you know? Apart from my STBXH uni mates I don’t know any that do.
