Keir Starmer ignoring Mother's Day

DangerQuakeRhinoSnake · 30/03/2025 23:12

AIBU to think it's a bit of a glaring omission?

Nothing on Twix today except something about Ramadan, and an RT about Myanmar.

Lots of upset on there about him ignoring Lent too.

It's probably too late to expect anything now.

What's his objective here? It feels so... deliberate. And bizarre.

Fully expecting some to accuse me of dog whistling. But I'd still be interested in why they think he's done it.

I don’t need the PM to mention Mother’s Day. I expect that from my sons. I’d like the PM to focus on his job, like most sensible people.

MojoMoon · 30/03/2025 23:15

Do you really think Keir Starmer is personally doing the tweeting?

Prob the junior weekend cover comms person forgot.

Pinepeak2434 · 30/03/2025 23:16

I think it’s a disgrace, but he seems to be deliberately causing division.

Thewholeplaceglitters · 30/03/2025 23:16

Why does he need to mention Mother’s Day? None of us are his mum.

And apparently he did post about it on IG.

Negroany · 30/03/2025 23:17

He has posted about mother's day. Maybe look at his posts?

DuskyPink1984 · 30/03/2025 23:18

He posted on Facebook: ‘Thinking of my late mum today, who so influenced me as I was growing up; and thinking of my wife Vic, who is the rock of our family.

This picture, from our wedding day, is one of my favourite memories of them both together.

Happy Mother’s Day.’

What would he say? I guess he would have said happy Mother’s Day to his own mum like other people do?

TrixieFatell · 30/03/2025 23:19

He posted on Instagram this morning about his mum and his wife.

The Lent thing is weird, why would he mention that? I imagine he will post about Easter. People look too much into things to get their knickers in a twist about.

Oh ffs. There's another thread about this faux twitter outrage.

He put something on Instagram which was a tribute to his dead mother. Happy now?

I'm not his mother or the mother of his children so I don't need him to wish me a happy Mothering Sunday.

It doesn't bother me in the slightest that someone in his comms team did a tweet about Eid because I'm not an islamaphobe. I'm sure they will also do a tweet about Easter if that's what you are so worried about.

Mothering Sunday isn't foreign... think you've got that wrong.

MojoMoon · 30/03/2025 23:21

He posted on his personal Instagram, not the 10 Downing Street account.

It is a picture of him, his wife and mother at his wedding

Just looked on Facebook and he posted about Mother’s Day this morning. What is your problem anyway? I can’t understand being annoyed about this.

Such an idiotic post. I feel quite sorry for you.

Just look on his social media yourself…

LavenderBlue19 · 30/03/2025 23:22

I really don't think it's Keir Starmer himself writing the tweets 🙄

People are looking to be offended - I bet this was hyped up by a Reform-affiliated account. Mother's Day is a personal, family thing, it's nothing to do with the Prime Minister. Ramadan is more of a cultural thing, the same as he would wish people Happy Christmas.

And what's Lent got to do with anything?

rockstarshoes · 30/03/2025 23:22

This thread was done at about 10.00am!
KS wishing people Eid Mubarak what a disgrace no mention of Mother’s Day, Lent etc etc

post to say KS posted Happy Mother’s Day about 3 days earlier on Instagram!

so yeah dog whistle!

TrixieFatell · 30/03/2025 23:23

I'd put money on most of those upset about the Lent omission being people who have never bothered about Lent before. They are probably sharing that post on Facebook that Easter eggs don't have Easter on them.

Renamed · 30/03/2025 23:23

“Keith Starmer forgot My Birthday. Is it cos I is white?”

Fucksake there are some nutters on here.

rockstarshoes · 30/03/2025 23:23

3 hours earlier! 🤣

suburberphobe · 30/03/2025 23:23

Ha! The day the PM has to post a Happy Mother's Day on whatever social media is the day I would think he's lost his marbles.

I can't feel sorry for someone who embarrasses themselves like that.
