To report my son as missing?

Wondering when to start panicking? DS 22, hasn't been home since Friday day time. He usually lets me know what's going on. It's not unusual for him to spend time at a friends for a day or two, however I've messaged his closest friends, no one's seen him since Friday. His phone been dead since Saturday morning. I know he's not a child, but he's my son and I'm concerned about his wellbeing. Should I report him as a missing person? Or am I overreacting? I just don't know what to do.

Please be kind, I am currently feel very fragile.

MissyB1 · 18/03/2025 22:12

Really hoping he's ok. You must be so frightened, I hope you have some support around you.

Grinchybinchy · 18/03/2025 22:13

Definitely report and now, hopefully all good but definitely safe than sorry. Keep us updated op ❤️

Stopandlook · 18/03/2025 22:14

Nothing useful to add but I hope you hear something tonight.

Juniegirl · 18/03/2025 22:14

stucky · 18/03/2025 21:30

No. He's not been to work either.

Has he contacted work?

way2serious · 18/03/2025 22:16

I would be reporting my 25 year old if I hadn’t heard from him for that long. Hope you hear something soon.

They will not tell you anything. They will not give information to done random
person on the phone.

They will tell you if someone is in hospital but not give details .

Letstheriveranswer · 18/03/2025 22:17

Oh my, you must be so worried, and it's so hard to know when to take action at that age, as you don't want to annoy them by being over protective either. I hope you've spoken to the police now and have lots of support.

Ignore the people that didn't post helpful comments.

It doesn't matter to us if there's a backstory as it's not for us to solve the case.

All we had to do was say yes, report it.

The police will ask what needs to be asked.

I'm not trying to "solve the case". OP asked us whether she's reasonable to report, and the answer to that question is potentially different if there's a specific backstory that is giving her reason to think reporting isn't the obvious thing to do here. "Why have you chosen not to report so far?" is a perfectly relevant question when evaluating whether OP would be more reasonable to maintain that approach or change course.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 18/03/2025 22:21

Really hope you find him and he’s safe

pontipinemum · 18/03/2025 22:22

I'd report it. Hopefully it is all nothing. I'd also be calling his friends

Isittimeformynapyet · 18/03/2025 22:26

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

I can't think of a backstory that would prompt me to say no, don't bother.

Thisisittheapocalypse · 18/03/2025 22:27

I'm sorry, OP. I hope everything's ok.

nocoolnamesleft · 18/03/2025 22:28

Call the police. The weekend is over. He isn't back. He hasn't been to work. Please call.

Hazey19 · 18/03/2025 22:29

Definitely. I would be frantic. Hope he turns up soon just worse for wear having had a really good weekend!

Workhardcryharder · 18/03/2025 22:30

Fingers crossed for you OP. Am sure everything is fine!

EconomyClassRockstar · 18/03/2025 22:32

I wouldn't have called the police over the weekend either but now he's missed work, it's time. Hopefully he turns up soon and you get to yell at him and then hug him. Or the other way around. x

paddyclampster · 18/03/2025 22:33

I’d be frantic. Hope he turns up very soon!
