To report my son as missing?

Wondering when to start panicking? DS 22, hasn't been home since Friday day time. He usually lets me know what's going on. It's not unusual for him to spend time at a friends for a day or two, however I've messaged his closest friends, no one's seen him since Friday. His phone been dead since Saturday morning. I know he's not a child, but he's my son and I'm concerned about his wellbeing. Should I report him as a missing person? Or am I overreacting? I just don't know what to do.

Please be kind, I am currently feel very fragile.

Have you rang round his friends?

Quinlan · 18/03/2025 21:25

You haven’t already? With what you’ve said, i’d have reported it sunday night or yesterday. Why have you waited until now?

Leave OP alone. Totally unnecessary comment.

Have you rang round his friends?

Sorry you said this - but what about people he was last out with?

ItsUpToYou · 18/03/2025 21:32

Yes I would report. I don’t think the “Why haven’t you already?” comments are particularly helpful.

GretaGip · 18/03/2025 21:32

Please phone the police, have you got support and comfort there with you?

Do not feel obliged to come back and update here, you do what is best for you.

stucky · 18/03/2025 21:30

No. He's not been to work either.

So he hasn't been home or to work and his phone is off?
Yes, definitely report ASAP. I'd be so worried.
How is your relationship generally?
Does he have any MH issues or any history of taking off without letting you know? Where was he going on Friday?

Tiswa · 18/03/2025 21:33

Yes contact police and hospitals

Gundogday · 18/03/2025 21:33

Yes, report.

Climbinghigher · 18/03/2025 21:33

Yes - I had to report a friend as missing - it was a long but straightforward process.

i hope you hear from him soon. I have sons of similar ages and would be very worried.

BMW6 · 18/03/2025 21:33

Police. Now. I hope everything is OK.

Climbinghigher · 18/03/2025 21:34

And yes ring hospitals. I have had to do that for my friend a few times (the missing one). I had to check A&E and the main hospital separately.

Devianinc · 18/03/2025 21:34

Yeah, I’d be freaking out. Better the faster it’s reported

MadeForThis · 18/03/2025 21:35

Report him missing now. And phone local hospitals.

SwerveCity · 18/03/2025 21:36

So many unnecessary comments 🙄
Hope all is ok OP. Definitely ring around hospitals once you’ve reported.

TreeCake · 18/03/2025 21:36

Hope all is ok.

Sunshineandrainbow · 18/03/2025 21:36

Absolutely do it now.
If you ring hospitals and give his name they will tell you if he is a patient.

Really hope he is ok 🥰

kungfoofighting · 18/03/2025 21:36

Hope he turns up safe and well quickly OP, you must be worried, is there someone there with you 💐

Mingenious · 18/03/2025 21:37

I would report too.

SpringIsNearlySpringing · 18/03/2025 21:38

Agree with everyone else. Report to police, then start ringing round hospitals.
Hope he’s ok.

Has he done anything like this before?

zeibesaffron · 18/03/2025 21:38

Sending you a hug and hoping that all is okay ❤️❤️

Doggymummar · 18/03/2025 21:39

Definitely report it, assuming you've tried everyone you can. It's very worrying he hadn't been to work.

Terracottafarmers · 18/03/2025 21:41

Oh OP. I'm so sorry to hear. Yes report him. Ignore the rude comments about how you should've done it earlier. Until you are in that situation you don't know how you will react and you also don't want to overreact in case. Sending lots of hugs x

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 18/03/2025 21:41

IMissSparkling · 18/03/2025 21:26

This! I would have done it on Sunday.

Oh incredible! Not to derail the thread but you’ve invented a Time Machine so the op can go back to when you would’ve reported it? That’s amazing! How did you do it?! You utter spanner.

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 18/03/2025 21:43

OP, yes I echo others, you should report it. My DB had a habit of doing this at the same age when he decided he fancied some headspace, a week was the longest time and the police always found him. He’s grown out of it 🙄 but I remember the fear. I hope all is ok x

Pumpkinspice13 · 18/03/2025 21:43

You must be going out of your mind with worry, yes definitely call them!! Hope he is found safe and well soon!!
