Swinging teachers

Interested to read some opinions on this. Someone we know has found out that a teacher at their child's school is a swinger. This person is aghast about this and wants to report the teacher (not sure what for) and is refusing to let them teach their child.
My attitude is that as long as it doesn't affect their work (whichbit clearly isnt) then what the teacher chooses to do in their private time is their business and their business only. ATBU?

If the teacher is doing their job well and their home life doesn’t impact their teaching then I really don’t understand why it’s any of the other person’s business.

HeyItsPickleRick · 08/03/2025 18:00

I’ve heard a similar story about a friends school but that there are a couple of teachers and some of the parents have joined in. Of course could all be nonsense…

Can’t say it bothers me.

tentimesover · 08/03/2025 18:02

How did they find out?

If it was at all advertised that they were online or common knowledge among other teachers/parents I would think it was inappropriate and a safeguarding issue.

HollyBerryz · 08/03/2025 18:05

Yes how did they find out? Are they one too? 😂

ToTheCrystalDome · 08/03/2025 18:06

Surely it takes one to know one.... 😉

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 08/03/2025 18:06

😄 this person sounds like a bellend

Live and let live, its their teaching ability that matters. Maybe she's jealous as she wants to join in

menopausalmare · 08/03/2025 18:07

I'm surprised they find the time and energy.

Whammyyammy · 08/03/2025 18:07

If she's swinging in class in front of the kids- report.
If she's doing outside of school hours behind closed doors- she needs to mind her own business.

Iamallowedtodisagreewithyou · 08/03/2025 18:07

It's just gossip thats all.

FortyElephants · 08/03/2025 18:08

How did they find out? This impacts the answer to the question. If they posted their face on a swinging site openly for example then they should be reported to the regulator. If they are going on rumours and just being a judgy busy body they they ABU.

This. If not online or whatever then I'd be a bit 🤔 but move on. I wouldn't want the kids knowing though.

Goodadvice1980 · 08/03/2025 18:10

Was it the pampas grass in the front lawn which gave them away OP 😂

Keiththecatwithamagichat · 08/03/2025 18:10

How can she refuse to let a teacher teach her child? And who would she report it to?

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 08/03/2025 18:16

She's obviously being unreasonable, and she doesn't get to make demands about who teaches her child. If she doesn't like it she can change schools. I say that as someone who finds the whole idea of swinging a bit grim, but teachers are entitled to a private life and parents don't get to police it.

LlynTegid · 08/03/2025 18:19

It is relevant if other teachers or staff in the school are partaking, even if nowhere near the school and at weekends. Conflict of interest in a sense if someone manages another person.

I also would not want someone who does this taking PSHE lessons.

However, my guess is it could be a nasty rumour.

MoosakaWithFries · 08/03/2025 18:25

I'm with you on this OP.

I'd also have no issue with the teacher teaching my DC PSHE either. You can be a swinger and be professional in the workplace.

Wendolino · 08/03/2025 18:26

From the title I thought you meant people teaching others how to be swingers

sixtyandfabulousofcourse · 08/03/2025 18:27

Probably this person went on a swingers site so they have got a lot to yell about people who live in glass houses etc if they are not doing it in the classrooms their private life is their own

Matsukaze · 08/03/2025 18:29

How did the parent find out? Was the teacher wearing something with an upside down pineapple on it? Or is the parent wanting to report it before people find out that they too are a swinger? 🤣

Fagli · 08/03/2025 18:33

Unless they’re bring the children with them on a school trip, I can’t see it’s anyone’s business.

I imagine the person who found out happened to be at a ‘party’ they were at and feels a bit embarrassed.

I'm always so annoyed that swingers use this as a sign, I love pampas grass but I'd be afraid to have any in case anyone got the wrong idea!

I promise you no swingers have used pampas grass since the 70s! The internet is much more effective than pampas grass in finding other swingers 😆

Skipsy · 08/03/2025 18:39

gossip eh! How did they find this info? At the end of the day, teachers as well as health professionals have a code of contact and they can technically be barred from teaching in certain circumstances, it’s the old fashioned attitude of “ good moral character”. We had a teacher dismissed for their behaviour on instagram. For v good reason many teachers don’t have social media accounts that are easily accessible!

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 08/03/2025 18:42

Did they have an upside down pineapple in their shopping trolley?!

I used to have a pineapple picture in my house and I used to Airbnb it a bit when I was away. Had to take it down when I realised!

NotTheDebtDoctorWithTheHungryScalpel · 08/03/2025 18:44

How can they report a teacher because the teacher isn't having the sex a parent deems appropriate 🤣

Where would that end. Do parents get a say in all aspects of teachers sex lives now.
